OHSU BSN PDX program applicants - 2010

Published

Hi,

Anyone else out there getting anxious to hear from OHSU's Portland campus for their BSN program? They said they'll notify in early May which is still a month away, but I just want to know now! It's my first time applying and the only program that I applied to this year, so I'm not counting on it.

Good luck to everyone!

:)

nothing yet.... yes, the food drive thing must be slowing them down! i dont think i can wait until monday to know!

I just got my letter, and I didn't get in.

sorry k1977... it's tough. Out of all of the schools, I think OHSU is the most competitive. :-( I was rejected from the accelerated program and waitlisted for the OCNE 3 year program and I have a B.A.E. degree and a cumulative 3.7 GPA and had a strong essay with some really great volunteer experience. I think the main thing that kept me from getting accepted into the OCNE program was that I had a B in one of my pre-req's. (Had A's in all of the others).

Hang in there and keep trying. You can/will do it if you really want to!!! :D :D :D

k1977: oh no!! did you apply to other programs?

i didn't get a letter today. only junk. will have to wait until monday to hear the bad news.

Hey--I did apply to PCC. I think what weakened my application was that BI232, BI233, and FN225 were "in progress." Without those grades (which have all been As), they had no idea of knowing how strong my GPA was. Next year, I plan to apply to all schools in the area, which means I'll spend the next year getting my CNA license, doing Chemistry, and re-taking Human Development (taken 7 years ago now), Cultural Anthro (for a better grade), etc. I have a prior B.A. English from PSU and wrote a strong essay, but I think "in progress" prerequisites don't serve to strengthen your application, especially when there were 900 applications for 175 spots (and only 30+ of those were for the Portland campus, where I applied!).

I'm feeling bummed, but I have to believe that I can only be that much more prepared having had another year to prepare, although spending more $$ on prerequisites doesn't sound too appealing to me right now.

Good luck, Katieus!

I got my denial letter from OHSU today. I don't feel too bad, because they have so many supreme applicants for 30 spots. I just hope I get in somewhere.

This is crazy, everyone has such golden records, it makes me wonder what criteria these schools are really looking for. No letter so I will be waiting for monday...

2010_Student...where did you apply to? And yes, getting on the waiting list is still pretty impressive, it's a competitive place!

K1977 & KatieUS

Thanks! Yeah I am happy that I am at least an alternate! Monmouth was my first choice but I did list a few other schools as backup choices. I have all of my pre-reqs complete with a strong GPA, plus I feel like I wrote a good essay. Don't worry if you guys didn't get in...take the time to finish pre-reqs it's a really good feeling. I just can't believe that even with that I didn't get in. Oh well!! Another year won't hurt too much I guess! :)

This is not OHSU news, but I just got a letter from CCC with my initial points.

Would anyone who applied be willing to share his/her points?

I have 53.52.............

I just received my CCC initial points and I have 57.6. I'm sure what the cut off will be for the qualified applicants?

I got my ohsu rejection letter today :( but I did get invited for an interview at mt. Hood for the part time program. I think my strategy paid off since only 50 people applied and the top 40 get interviews. I hope the others waiting on ohsu get better news!

Deasic, I applied to Mt. Hood's part time program as well. Just curious what's your interview date?

Have you considered going the EMT route, rather than the CNA? I was planning on looking into that if I didn't get in this year. It seems like the EMT's get a little more medical experience. I know PCC has a program...
