OHSU BSN, Fall 2021

Published

Hi, first post because I cannot find that much information about this!
Apps recently opened to OHSU's BSN program. I haven't decided if I want to apply to Ashland or Monmouth - I am currently in California (don't hate me Oregonians) but most of my family live close to those two campuses.

Anyone else start their application for OHSU yet?

Also - Any tips for essay question responses? I have a 3.9 GPA in the prereqs and overall, finished all prereqs, and have 4000+ hours of healthcare experience as a medical assistant, but I feel like I still might screw it up if I flub those responses.

Alternate list for Monmouth campus as “Moderately likely”. Dang it. I’ll try again next year. Congrats to everyone who was offered a seat!

For those of us waiting to hear from the Portland campus, just a heads up that admissions said we won't get decisions until "sometime next week". I was really hoping to hear before the weekend since Friday will be the 3 week mark from our interview deadline but no such luck.

Yep I just emailed asking if they knew when decisions would be sent out since we were coming up on the 3 week point. They didn't give a reason at all, just said sometime next week ?

Darn, that’s unfortunate! I really just want to know already, even if it is a rejection LOL

Congrats to those who have gotten in!

One advantage of going to OHSU is the clinical locations being at OHSU, despite the pandemic. I don’t know what other schools are doing right now but the OHSU students are still getting the hands on clinical experience.

Not sure if anyone on here is waiting on Klamath Falls, but I received an email this morning and I got in! Super stoked! Congratulations to everyone who has been accepted and good luck to those waiting!

Only Portland students do clinicals at ohsu. Every other campus is doing in person clinicals, but talking to some current students I work with, it sounds like a lot of the quarters have way less clinical hours than before. Senior year students are doing full IP hours, though, so you’ll get a decent amount of hands on time before graduation. Hopefully the restrictions ease up these next couple months.

Not to stress anyone out, but I emailed this morning asking for an update and they said we should hear back tomorrow for the Portland campus!

Oh goodness.. thanks for the update! Good luck to everyone!

Does anyone know if there is any chance for students to potentially switch campuses later? Such as the school year has been going on for a couple of semesters and for whatever reason a student had to drop their program. I am asking because I live near the Portland campus but applied to a different one to increase my chances of being accepted. I would really like to decrease my travel time if possible.
