OHSU BSN Fall 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi! I recently applied to the 2018-2019 BSN program at OHSU, specifically the Monmouth campus. I keep looking to see if anyone has started a thread for this upcoming year and haven't found one. I'd love to connect with other applicants and keep each other updated on our processes.

Let me know if they call you soon. I hope they do! I'm alternate number 18.

The email went to my junk! Yikes! Alternate # 1. I'm very optimistic being alternate 1. I'm assuming they go down the line calling alternates as people decline spots. At least I hope that's what they do..

Oh wow I'm glad I mentioned something! Yes from my understanding that's what they do :)

You as well!!

Hey congrats! That is huge! Which of the two schools would you prefer to go to?

I love OHSU, but PCC is a smarter financial decision. So that is likely where I will wind up if I get in. But that being said, I feel very amped on OHSU right now... I'll post here if I reject OHSU! One more spot on the alternate list would be up for grabs. :)

Yeah I totally agree with you. There are great benefits at each program so regardless, I think you'll be happy with whichever you end up picking. For me, weighing the prestige and resources at OHSU to the $17k-ish you would save by going the PCC route is tough. Keep us updated and again, congrats!

Aw thanks! Yeah, it also doesn't hurt that OHSU got their decisions out first.

Did anyone else see this article? Nursing schools are rejecting thousands of applicants -- in the middle of a nursing shortage

Hi everyone. I just found this post. I interviewed at MHCC, OHSU (portland), PCC and CCC. So far I have been accepted to MHCC (winter term), CCC and OHSU. I was leaning towards MHCC but I don't want to wait till January 2019 to start school, so I think I may choose OHSU.

Congrats! Keep us updated on your decision :)

I was also wait listed for OHSU portland. I was really bummed to find out that three of my classmates from PCC with very similar situations all got accepted. I have worked as a Certified Medical Assistant for the last 10 years, I am fluently bilingual ( spanish and english) and come from a diverse background, I had completed all pre-reqs besides one social science that was in process when applied, GPA of 3.87. I felt really good and confidant about the interview and the essay portions. Still wondering what I was missing so that I can improve if not accepted into PCC this year. Congrats tho to those that got in that is awesome!

Being waitlisted isn't bad! Are you "highly" or "moderately" likely at all?? I think you still have a chance!

No, I think I am out of the game as I was "somewhat likely" I think the GPA not being the highest was my disadvantage. I think if I was highly or moderately I would have been more optimistic.
