OHSU ABSN to FNP 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey all!

Long time lurker, but now that the application deadline has passed, I feel comfortable finally starting a post.

Just curious to hear who else applied to this program. It's fascinating to me to hear about people's different experiences, stats, expectations, etc. I'm also wondering what other programs people might've applied to? I got my submission in for the Portland ABSN program as well.

Best of luck to everyone! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and perspectives.

The ABSN-FNP applicants probably get contacted for interviews before the ABSN?

@ally_i Do you mind sharing your stats?? Just seeing if I should even anticipate a call for an interview :')

Sure! I don't know if this is exactly what you are looking for, but I am currently a CDC/CSTE Applied Epidemiology Fellow based in Hawaii with a focus on ID, healthcare associated infections, and antibiotic resistance. After three years with Teach for America, I went back and got my MPH with a focus on Maternal and Child Health-Epidemiology in 2016. I am redoing my pre-reqs because I am a tad older (28) and they have expired. As of now, have a 4.0 in those and a 3.7 or 3.8 overall. I still have one more semester of A&P and I am hoping that they waive my genetics requirement. As far as medical experience, I don't have much, but I did work in a hospital in Kenya for several months back in undergrad. I was accepted to UH here in Hawaii and to Emory in Atlanta, but my first choice is OHSU (fingers crossed!).

Hi all! I posted in the other ABSN-MSN thread for OHSU, but forgot about this specific thread! I received an invitation to interview this morning via email. I was given the option to interview virtually, since I am out of state. I am debating whether or not I should go in-person, though. Very excited, either way! OHSU is a top school, contending with University of San Diego (which is a CNL program). Will anyone else on this thread be attending an interview and the luncheon on February 21st?

Did you take Genetics over 7 years ago? If so, I am in the same boat. OHSU reached out to me a couple of weeks ago telling me that I would need to retake it before the semester begins, if I am admitted. Let me know if you have any luck getting it waived :)

Congrats! Man, I hope they still have emails to send out.

I don't know if this helps...but the email was not a mass email notification type of thing. It was a personal email from their Graduate Program Associate. That gives me the idea that the invites may be staggered?

I agree, based off that. Thanks for letting us us know! Leaves me with at least a little confidence.

Good morning!

Has anyone else gotten an invitation to interview? I'm wondering if I should give up hope, haha.

I haven't and have been wondering the same thing, actually. I wonder if they'd tell us if we called?

I'm too nervous to call! I should have called a few weeks ago to make sure that they had everything they needed from me, I know a lot of other people called to confirm. I mean they usually only get 100 or so applications from what it looks like, so you would think we'd have heard something by now if we were to get an invite.

I confirmed that they had everything from me, but that's been it. On one hand, it feels like we should've heard something. On the other hand, we have no idea when they started sending emails, so it's more than possible they're still going. I'd honestly give them a call if I were you because if they didn't get your FNP info, they likely didn't get it for the ABSN alone either and you really want to know that since they'll be sending invites out soon and you still may be able to fix it for that if you need to.
