Since it seems that there's quite a bit of interest, I'm attempting to start a new thread devoted exclusively to the OU on-line RN-BSN program that will hopefully build on the comments on assorted previous threads.
I'd like to ask nevergonnagiveup, mtsteelhorse and babynurse73 - all of whom (I think) are either already in the program or have applied for admission - to post about their experiences. I just sent in my application and plan to post periodically about relevant issues. If we can populate the thread with good material, it could become a very useful resource for both those considering the OU program and students already in it. Once that happens, I'd hope we could prevail upon the forum moderators to make it a sticky thread.
As indicated, I've only recently applied to the program. So far, I'm happy with the support and information I've gotten. I've been contacted by an OU "enrollment specialist" who was somewhat helpful (I suspect that they have dual roles, one being to provide basic information to prospective students and the other to follow-up with the prospects and help to fill the roster for the program). This person e-mailed me, followed up with a phone call and was able to provide some useful, if basic, information about the program. I also sent a lengthy e-mail to OU with quite a number of specific, detailed questions. This too resulted in both an e-mail and telephone response, this time from an academic advisor in the OU School of Nursing. Again I received some useful and quite helpful information. All in all, my early experience has been pretty positive.
As indicated above, I plan to post about relevant issues that come up as I work my way through the admission and evaluation process. I'd very much like to hear from others about their experience with OU and I'm sure that there will be a lot of interest by others in our collective experience with the program.
More good news from OU. After exchanging e-mails with the advisor who is evaluating my transcripts, it became apparent that OU did not have the complete transcript from one school I attended. For whatever reason, that particular school sent only my graduate records (one course) not my undergrad. This omission can be easily corrected but would never have come to light had not the advisor been willing to engage in a discussion about my evaluation. The transcript is important because some of the courses from this school will satisfy what otherwise would have been outstanding Tier 1 & 2 requirements. While I won't have my DARS report for some weeks, it looks like I've covered all of the non-nursing coursework and will need only the 12 RN-BSN courses to complete the program. So while I can still complain that the process takes too long, my interaction so far with the OU nursing department has been very positive and more than offsets the negatives of the long wait.
On an unrelated topic, the course map shows that after NRSE 300, you can take any of the courses offered except for the capstone course, NRSE 455. There is no suggested sequence that I could find. Can any of the folks who are already in the program offer advice on what would be a logical sequence of courses?

According to this, you're supposed to start with NRSE 300 and then if you are doing one course at a time, you take the "a" course and if you are are doing two courses at a time, you take the "a" and "b" course and just keep following that sequance until you get to the capstone.
For instance, if you start NRSE 300 July 25th, then you would look at the next session after July 25th, which is 09/05 and then you'll see that 445 has an "a" beside it and 414 has a "b" beside it. So if you take one course you take 445 and if you take 2, you take 445 and 414. To see what to take after those, go to the next session, 10/17, and you'll see an "a" beside 310 and a "b" beside 325. Just keep following that pattern until you get to the capstone. Take the "a" course if you take one course that term and take the "a" and "b" course if you take 2 courses that term.

Hi,
I'm currently doubling up on classes. It either double up with 2 nursing classes or a nursing class and an elective. Regarding A or B, if only taking 1 class, it doesn't matter which one you take. You don't have to take the A course if you are just taking 1 class. You can take the B course, since they are both offered at the same time and you are selecting your own classes.
Pls, fellow OU Rn-Bsn, can someone provide me with OU admission contact number and e-mail for I want to check on the status of my application. Thanks
Contact information below however, if you applied relatively recently (up to 8 weeks ago), it's probably an exercise in futility to check on your status. I applied in Feb and really did not hear officially from OU until June. I contacted them at least twice but only in April did they respond with anything helpful. This is what they said at that time:
So the moral of the story is: Be patient - it takes time and really does get better. Ever since I got my admission confirmation (22 June, nearly exactly 5 months after applying), OU has been pretty easy to work with. I've been able to reach my counselor easily by both phone and e-mail and she has been very helpful. Yesterday, I had to contact the nursing office to find out why I hadn't yet received a bill for the course I registered for last week (their new IT system is causing delays) and why I hadn't gotten a log-on for the EPIC system (used to deliver the on-line nursing courses - the delay is yet another IT system hiccup). Not really what I wanted to hear but they were very pleasant to deal with.We will begin to process admission to the Summer term within the next several weeks, and you can expect to receive an e-mail regarding an admission decision sometime in May or very early in June depending upon the amount of transfer work being applied to your record at Ohio University.

When I started, I got an email about epic log-on - You usually get it One or two days before the start of class. Check on Saturday - I think that is when I got mine. The upside is once you have an epic log on, it never changes. Info for my next class is already there but some parts of it you cant access until start of class on Monday
I've been researching OU's program and have some questions, but I can't find the answer . Does anyone know how long it would take to finish the program in terms of years and months, if you only need the 12 nursing courses? When it says double up on the courses does that mean 2 courses every 5 weeks, is that doable? or 2 courses in 10 weeks?
Thanks
