Ohio State Master's Entry Summer 2016

Published

Hello! Has anyone out there applied to the Entry Master's Program at Ohio State for the Summer 2016 start?

My GPA was around 3.3 for undergrad, 3.8 for pre-reqs, and 3.8 for graduate. I hadn't had any recent extracurriculars but previously I volunteered with an animal shelter and Stonewall. I don't think that's what helped me get in though. I was able to attend the birth of my niece and I think both how I spoke about that and being able to discuss seeing CNMs in the field helped. I also went to several open houses at OSU including one where all of the specializations had break out sessions so you can meet and interact with the people making admission decisions.

Good luck!

@ Jraelyn Did you ever get in ? your credentials seem good so I was wondering?

I am beginning the WHNP program in June. My GPA overall was 3.53 and for requisites 4.0. I did not have any previous experience but although my undergraduate degree was in fine arts, I have a strong science background. Best of luck!

Hello! I just saw this! I am graduating in May from Ohio state with a major in biology and a minor in Spanish. My gpa was a 3.25. I volunteered through the osu wexner center for about 100 hours. I was published in one biology publication, and I had a job sophomore through senior year in the undergraduate general Chem prep lab. I also took the GRE, got an average score and was awarded the graduate enrichment fellowship which is why my acceptance was so early. As for my pre reqs I got A- in two of them a B+ and and a B in another. I honestly didn't think I would get accepted however I think women's health is not as competitive so that helps. Let me know if you have any questions thoughout your app process and best of luck!

Thank you so much for the details this definitely helped boost my confidence! We are definitely within a very similar academic boat so this was so nice to hear! I will definitely keep in touch, thank you so much! i would also love to hear how you like the program as you progress through it. I will be applying not this coming fall, but next fall so hopefully the competitiveness doesn't go up in the mean time haha. Thanks again and congrats on getting in!!

has any body who's gotten into the program completed their STNA certification before applying and actually worked as an STNA/PCA? I want to get it this summer but I am debating on whether or not to actually work as one. 1) I would not have time during the school year to work as one and I just feel like if i start for 2 months over the summer and have to quit, it would look worse/be more of a hassle than just not working at all 2) it's between that another research opportunity I want to apply to that's geared toward my specialty.... so essentially did you get in without having stna experience and what would you do in my situation? Thank you so much!

STNA completion does not count into your score to get in. A lot of us are just now taking the course. I'd absolutely choose the research opportunity.

thank you so much!

Don't worry about being too old, gang! We're all in the same boat. Taking the pre-reqs there were a few times I looked around and thought, "man, I probably have underwear older than some of these kids..." I struggled with it for a while, but hey: nothing ventured, nothing gained, right? Keep your chins up everyone. I've looked at all of your posts about your application stats and, if it were up to me, you'd all get in. Good luck and know that if you think you're being neurotic checking your email/buckeyelink every 15 minutes, there are a lot of us out there doing the same thing. If you get in, don't forget to post about it here. It gives us all hope!

I like the " underwear older than some of these kids". 😃

Congrats Ricklesworth!!! I am hoping to hear back about the traditional track shortly.

Hi All! I just found this post and I am applying this summer (2017). I will have all but two pre-reqs completed by the time I submit my application. Should I apply even though I do not have all pre-reqs done? I saw some comments that they prefer have them all done. I am very nervous!!

They do very much prefer for you to have them done. They weight you on a point system so not having them done will give you a lower score. What specialties are you going to be applying to? Also if you don't mind me asking what's your background and GPA and what pre-reqs do you have left?
