OHIO STATE Grad-Entry Summer 2017

Published

Hey! I was hoping to start a thread consisting of summer 2017 applicants to Ohio State's Graduate Entry program. I just finalized my application and submitted last Friday! Well before the deadline in October so I'm hoping that helps. I guess you can say I'm an overly proactive type of person lol. Blessing and a curse. But I've completed all pre-reqs except Microbiology..... which I'm in right now until December. My GPA isn't strong at all :( 3.2. I'll be taking the GRE in September so I'm pretty much dedicating a lot of my time to studying for that...

Anyways, I hope to meet more people who applied/will apply this year for next summer :)

Crunch time starts now!

SUPER NERVOUS, BUT SO EXCITED!!

Also got an interview email. Can you practice and then take it another time or does it have to be all at once?

I also got an interview yesterday morning for FNP. I am shocked at how early it is compared to last year. It seemed interviews were going on at different times during December and early January and most people had a decision about one month after their interview. Will we have a decision before Christmas then? I hope so! So excited and nervous..I also have an interview for Case Western Reserve University this week for their Masters in Nursing so it's been both a good and bad week (my dog died on Sunday). Just hoping for more good news.

I think in the email it says that you only have one attempt :( but you can practice with sample questions to ensure your webcam and microphone are working properly?

So sorry about your dog. That's so hard to lose a pet. :(

I am so scared to even open the page to get to the practice page. Does anyone know if you can get to the practice page, close the window, then go back and do the interview?

Erinl1972, so sorry to hear about the loss of your dog. I hope that you get some time after taking the interview to relax.

Did anyone do the interview yet?? I'm probably going to do it either Friday or Saturday

I just got done with my interview. Nerve racking to say the least guys :( be aware that you will only have 5 seconds to answer between reading the question and responding. This is what tripped me up. I definitely could've done better. I hope this isn't considered a make or break component of our application. Other than that, your typical nursing school interview questions.

1.) Sit up straight and maintain eye contact with the webcam (I forgot to do this due to nerves)

2.) Give yourself at least a minute to breathe or get a sip of water before proceeding to the next question.

3.) ONLY 5 SECONDS GIVEN BETWEEN READING THE QUESTION AND FORMULATING YOUR RESPONSE. Be mindful of the time you have. (I had a couple pauses at the beginning of 3 of my questions and I'm sure it made me look super goofy)

GOODLUCK & PRAYING FOR EVERYONE TO DO WELL !!!! :)

Were there a lot of questions? How much time do you get to actually answer the questions?

I just finished the interview and it went terribly!

Practice questions were nothing like the real thing!

The questions were poor and and there wasn't enough time given to make a good response

I hope they don't focus much on the interview because I am screwed if they do!

I know they only started the interview process 2 years ago (at orientation last year they said the previous year was their first year) and I know they used another system then. I am curious if they are putting more weight on this.

Those who took it, what kind of questions did they ask. I am under the impression its like "why do you want to be a NP", "what qualifies you to be a NP." any examples of the types of questions ask would be so helpful to know! I just want to know what to look forward to with the interview since it's so different than any job interview i've done in the past.

Also to those that did it and say they look bad, I think they must know there is a level of awkwardness and nervousness from each candidate...so you probably did better than you think. I am trying to think of it like giving a speech in front of a class, you always feel (or at least I do) that you did worse than you actually did.

It took about 5 minutes. Honestly, not enough time in my opinion to have the opportunity to effectively represent yourself. ONLY 4 questions. 1minute to answer the first Q. 2 minutes to answer the 2nd. And a minute and 30 seconds the answer the last 2

there isn't even enough time to know how much time you'll have because it starts recording by the time you finish reading! The questions were not like "why do you want to be an NP?" I wish they were! they were strange questions that seemed to have very little to do with becoming an NP
