OHIO STATE Grad-Entry Summer 2017

Published

Hey! I was hoping to start a thread consisting of summer 2017 applicants to Ohio State's Graduate Entry program. I just finalized my application and submitted last Friday! Well before the deadline in October so I'm hoping that helps. I guess you can say I'm an overly proactive type of person lol. Blessing and a curse. But I've completed all pre-reqs except Microbiology..... which I'm in right now until December. My GPA isn't strong at all :( 3.2. I'll be taking the GRE in September so I'm pretty much dedicating a lot of my time to studying for that...

Anyways, I hope to meet more people who applied/will apply this year for next summer :)

Crunch time starts now!

SUPER NERVOUS, BUT SO EXCITED!!

Who did everyone use for your references? Did you use three professors or any employers, as well? I graduated with my bachelors four years ago and all of my professors who knew me best were music professors, so not related to nursing at all!! I could use one or two of them though. Also thinking about asking my A&P professor, but even she does not know me as well as my music professors got to know me. I could also ask my professor from my patient care technician classes, but I know she isn't the greatest writer... And then I have one employer I'm thinking about asking, but again, that one is also for a job that wasn't related to the field at all. I don't know! I wish choosing appropriate recommenders wasn't so stressful!

I used a clinician I shadowed, an organic chemistry professor, and a former boss from my work as an STNA. STILL playing an awful game of trying to get those all in for each application. I wish we had a centralized app so it could be one and done haha. Very frustrating and nerve-wracking!

I go to OSU too! I never applied to nursing but I know how hard it is to get in. They take people of all ranges it seems and their GPA requirements seem much higher. It's sooo stressful though!I hope everyone gets in too!!

Just submitted my application!!! I'm a little worried though.... The video on the admissions page says you can submit your application and upload your statement and resume later, so I submitted it without those thinking that I will be able to upload them later. I tried going to the website they say to go to, and it requires some log-in that I do not have. Does anyone know how I can still get them uploaded?? I would've waited to submit my application if I knew that that was going to happen!!

Did you create an OSU dot number email when applying or any sort of username? I'm not sure what the application process looks like from your side but if you did create something I imagine you would use that login or link to it directly from the email they send you after submission. I am not sure when I got the email (I'm thinking either the same day or two days later because it was a weekend) but it links you to your app status page and from there you can use the document uploader or if you look at the site itself. If all else fails, give them a call tomorrow morning and ask what your best route is, I'm sure they get the same question all the time!

No, it only had me create my username and password to log in to the application, which didn't work when I tried it. I received the generic confirmation that my application was received but not a link to my app status. But I just submitted today on a Sunday...so I'm probably just being impatient and will get it tomorrow or something!! I just don't want to ruin my chances of getting in before I even have everything submitted lol

Ok I received this in part of my email from gpappstatus the day after I submitted my app:

3) If you need to submit additional documents, you can do so with our Document Uploader; please allow up to two business days after you receive this email to ensure that the Uploader is fully available to you.

So I would say that you'll have access to it soon! It also says to activate your OSU username at my.osu.edu if you haven't already so you have full access to your app status page. If you didn't receive an email with this info in it I would call tomorrow! :)

Thank you!!! This makes me feel better!!

I got my log-in info today!! It turns out I was just impatient. :-) It isn't showing that my application has posted yet, but I suppose I need to wait another day or two! Still super nervous because I know it is so competitive!!

Where does everyone live? I'm curious to know where everyone would be coming from!

I am from Cleveland but also a current OSU student.

@katosu wow your recommendation letters are so varied. All three of recommendations will be from female instructors I have had in my major. I'm worried now if I should have asked for a recommendation from someone I shadows or my STNA boss. It's too late now lol. OMG is this process so nerve-wracking!

I'm currently living in Wheeling, WV but I'm originally from Avon, Ohio. I lived in Ohio for the first 24 years of my life and am only in WV while my husband goes to school...so I'm currently trying to get my residency reclassified to be in-state due to the "Forever Buckeye" rule.

I ended up getting 3 professors for my recommendations, as well. One was from my music undergrad degree, but I had him for all four years so he got to know me pretty well! I'm also using my A&P professor and my professor from my patient care tech classes.
