OHIO STATE -FNP traditional masters 2017

Published

Hi everyone!

I thought I would start a thread for everyone that is applying to the FNP traditional masters program for 2017! I have heard from many that the wait is anxious and long. I also just talked to a lady at the graduate college of nursing and she stated that this year everyone will be receiving an interview as it will be part of now the general application process. I was told by my friends that got admitted last year that getting an offer to interview was stating that you were competitive enough, but it seems this year it is now standard. I am super anxious! I applied to the online FNP, does anyone have any idea how many students they admit for the online program? My GPA is at 3.1, I have four years of RN experience, and I feel strongly about my letter of intent and my recommendations. The lady I spoke to today said that they have let in some with a GPA as low as mine but she also said it was their statement and recommendations that pulled them through. I'm hoping I get pulled through!! But I honestly have doubts. What does everyone else's credentials look like? What have you heard about the admission process this year? I would love to hear from other candidates, and wish everyone the best of luck!! Hopefully a good start to a new year for all of us!

Hey, everyone! I also got an interview invite to OSU's traditional FNP program. I just completed it last night and it was super nerve racking! There were 4 total questions with about 3 minutes total to answer each question. The questions were not that hard, I'm just a nervous person haha. Anyway, I have 3.5 years experience, mainly ER, and a 3.46 undergrad GPA. Good luck, everyone! Fingers crossed we get accepted.

The 4 questions they asked I feel like were not enough! I just completed mine and I think they didn't really ask much... so much I wanted to include that there questions didn't allow for :(

Yeah, I feel like I answered all of the questions they asked in my purpose and goals statement! Haha. So why reiterate what I already wrote?! They should have picked different questions for sure.

I honestly feel like the interview won't be a make or break factor. Not saying that it will be like last year but all 6 nurses that applied on my unit last year all got in, and one said she accidentally skipped a question another said she dropped her computer and cursed on accident and they were all fine and are currently in the program. I agree the questions feel similiar to what they asked in the letter of intent! I hope we find out earlier than may 1, my coworker said she got her interview last year on march 15. Hopefully because interviews were sent out earlier a decision will be made earlier! We can only hope!! I haven't gotten an interview yet for OU because they said they had lost one of my transcripts but the advisor said more interviews will be sent out after the deadline this Wednesday. This wait is horrible, I hope it goes fast!

I hope you get an interview for OU! I only applied to OSU because of their NNP program that is delivered online but I am out of state so... does OU have one? I'll have to research. i am hoping that I get in though! Yes, the questions were kind of close ended and even the first one where it asked me to tell them about myself I got cut off because I only got 2 mins! I feel like you can't really tell them about yourself in a couple minutes. :(

But yes I hope we hear back sooner this year and so maybe we can make alternative plans for the fall

Hi there! I'm glad I found this thread! I too applied for the FNP program at OSU. I opted for the all online program. I did my virtual interview this past Saturday and was really surprised at how few questions there were! I'm glad there are others who share my same anxiety about this waiting process!

So I called the college of nursing today and spoke to a lady that deals with The NP program applications her name is naomi. I wanted to make sure the lady I had spoke to back in December, didnt just make it up but naomi confirms that the interview process this year is standard and that everyone has received an interview. I asked since interviews got sent out earlier than last year if we would have a chance of knowing any earlier than may 1 and she said possibly but latest may 1. She said the reason behind interviews sent out so fast was that they were ahead of schedule on reviewing all the applications. Anyways that's all I asked and heard of so far! It still didn't ease my mind at all í ½í¸‘ ... fingers still crossed!

Do you think they are interviewing even unqualified applicants? Interesting!

Two girls on my unit didn't even have completed applications. So yes, everyone received an interview. Naomi Marcus is the lady at the graduate college that deals with the NP program, she is the one that I received the information from.. guess we will see what happens!! .. and I also got an interview for OU yesterday! I also have it on March 8.. ahhhhh fingers crossed!

Congrats!!! Hopefully we hear about everything soon.

Ahhhh anyone hear anything at all yet?! I'm going crazy!! Had my OU interview today which was soooo intimidating 😫
