OHIO STATE -FNP traditional masters 2017

Published

Hi everyone!

I thought I would start a thread for everyone that is applying to the FNP traditional masters program for 2017! I have heard from many that the wait is anxious and long. I also just talked to a lady at the graduate college of nursing and she stated that this year everyone will be receiving an interview as it will be part of now the general application process. I was told by my friends that got admitted last year that getting an offer to interview was stating that you were competitive enough, but it seems this year it is now standard. I am super anxious! I applied to the online FNP, does anyone have any idea how many students they admit for the online program? My GPA is at 3.1, I have four years of RN experience, and I feel strongly about my letter of intent and my recommendations. The lady I spoke to today said that they have let in some with a GPA as low as mine but she also said it was their statement and recommendations that pulled them through. I'm hoping I get pulled through!! But I honestly have doubts. What does everyone else's credentials look like? What have you heard about the admission process this year? I would love to hear from other candidates, and wish everyone the best of luck!! Hopefully a good start to a new year for all of us!

I am following this post even though I didn't apply to FNP. So maybe we can help eachother out if we hear any news. I am a NICU RN and applied to the online neonatal NP program. Haven't heard anything back. Feeling good about my letters and statement. My BSN GPA was a 3.79, and have 2 yrs RN experience. Fingers crossed!

I was hoping someone would respond! I'm super anxious! I have a feeling you will be just fine! A couple of girls I work with all got in last year and said that they got the offer for an interview around the second week of March! I know though they have been changing a lot of the admission process around, so I guess we will see! I'm hoping I get in! I applied to OU as well so it's now just a waiting process! I'm super curious on how they select the applicants because I know two nurses that got in with my Gpa and one nurse that didn't get in with a 3.8, 6 years of ICU experience, strong letter and recommendations. I will definitely keep in touch if I hear or receive anything!

Actually I just got an invite this morning to interview online in a webcam format where I will be recording myself essentially? Let me know if you hear anything.

I also go an invite this morning for an Interview! I know it states that this means your application is competitive but now I wonder if that lady I spoke to at the college was just freaking me out when she said everyone was going to get one. My four other co workers also received a interview invite today! I have six people on my unit that all go interviews last year and all six got in, but they did not receive interview invites till mid march last year. I wonder since interviews are starting so early this year if maybe decisions will be made earlier than may. I guess we will see! Glad you got an interview! 1 step closer!

Congrats! good luck! I think I'm going to do mine next week. Let's definitely keep in touch here! Hopefully we get an acceptance sooner than later as you said

I as well will be doing mine the middle of next week. Hopefully these questions aren't too complex, I hear there are 4-5 questions depending on the specialty you are aiming for. We will definitely keep in touch. Best of luck!

Hi!! I am applying for the traditional track FNP online program too! I plan on doing my interview today. I have a 3.6 GPA and 5 years ICU experience. Really hoping to get in!!

I applied to OU as well and have an interview with them on March 8th, theirs is more of a Skype situation it sounds like!

Oh wow! When did you find out you got an OU interview? I'm doing my OSU interview tomorrow! I hope it's not ridiculous!!

Good luck!!! I just finished, it wasn't bad! The program coordinator called me Monday about OU!

How was the interview? Doing mine tomorrow! A little nervous and don't know what to wear :)
