Hi everyone!
I thought I would start a thread for everyone that is applying to the FNP traditional masters program for 2017! I have heard from many that the wait is anxious and long. I also just talked to a lady at the graduate college of nursing and she stated that this year everyone will be receiving an interview as it will be part of now the general application process. I was told by my friends that got admitted last year that getting an offer to interview was stating that you were competitive enough, but it seems this year it is now standard. I am super anxious! I applied to the online FNP, does anyone have any idea how many students they admit for the online program? My GPA is at 3.1, I have four years of RN experience, and I feel strongly about my letter of intent and my recommendations. The lady I spoke to today said that they have let in some with a GPA as low as mine but she also said it was their statement and recommendations that pulled them through. I'm hoping I get pulled through!! But I honestly have doubts. What does everyone else's credentials look like? What have you heard about the admission process this year? I would love to hear from other candidates, and wish everyone the best of luck!! Hopefully a good start to a new year for all of us!
I'm part time FNP online, I went to the page for FNP and it had listed a sample curriculum pdf file and I followed that and signed up. I heard sometime in a bit an email would be coming around on exactly what classes you will be taking and when but there were already classes that two of my coworkers got into and I didn't because I didn't sign up as fast as they did, so I signed up with another professor.
OhioRN91, sorry for getting back to you late! I did talk to the admissions office and it was clarified that I was accepted to the part-time program...so hopefully that means you can keep working like you would like!
I also checked my spam folder a couple days ago and found the long email with details about registration and orientation.
For anyone else completing the program online, do you know if we are required to attend orientation on Aug 11?
@icurn123456 Did you get anywhere with the full time/part time conversation? I never selected part time, but my acceptance letter also said "part time only". I wouldn't mind being part time except their part time curriculum is 8+ hours almost every semester, which costs exactly what the "full time" curriculum costs. So basically the part time students would pay full time tuition for a whole extra year? Seems fishy, but maybe I'm misreading!
OhioRN91 I apologize for my late response. I did talk to the admissions office at OSU and clarified that I was only accepted for part-time. I applied to the full-time option for the online FNP program but they informed me they did not have enough slots to offer me admission for full-time so they instead offered me admission for part-time.
I think there are pros and cons to both. It would have been nice to have completed the program in 2 years, but I am looking forward to being able to continue working and gaining more experience these next two years (year three of the part-time program is actually full-time clinical 11 units per semester I believe).
I haven't looked into the specifics on payment, but I do remember seeing somewhere on the website that 8+ hours of graduate study is considered full-time. I have found it easiest to email the [email protected] email address with my question(s) and then generally someone will get back to me in a couple of days. I never seem to have any success with calling. If you look into it further please let me know! I'm out of town for a while and won't be investigating much further until I'm back.
Hello! I know this post is about Ohio State, but I saw several people had also applied to Ohio University's fnp program. I applied to OU and am awaiting a response. I'm so anxious. I'm feeling discouraged because I was not chosen for an interview. Those of you who were accepted to OU- did you get an interview?
