How far south???? LOL I'm originally from the Lawrence County area. That's as far south as you can get without being in WV or KY.

Okay I work/live in Portsmouth, you an RN? SOMC is always hiring. King's Daughters is in Ashland Ky. and is a 45 minute drive. My nursing home was just hiring a RN super. and if your an LPN, well all the nursing homes are always hiring lpns!

And if you looking at nursing homes, well lets see, Hill View Retirement Community(where I work), Hempstead Manor, Golden Years, Greenbiar, Best Care, Edgewood Manor, Woodland, Crystal Care, are a few I can think of off the top of my head.

Well, SOMC was not too friendly when I called them. Maybe I picked a bad day. Holtzer is very cold too. Funny, my cousin works there and she says they are in need of help but are so difficult to pin down.

I am dying to get on at SOMC's new Hospice center. I tried doing the online app. and never got a call back so I am going to have to go to the HR and put in an app.

SOMC...well...lets just say, I would (and did) drive the 45 minutes to KDMC in Ashland to work. They just don't have the best track record and its a running joke here in town that if you wanna live, go to Ashland.

ears ago I tried to get a license in Ky but the paperwork was so confusing I had to call the BON.

I never did get a straight answer to most of my questions. It seemed to me some parts of the papers were missing?? Anyway, Ky is out of the picture for me. SOMC is probably like most hometown facilities, under-appreciated until you need them.

The HR department at SOMC told me all applications are done on line even if you visit the HR office.

Actually, SOMC has one of the worst ratings in the country in reguards to heart attack survival...and they wanna start doing open heart there in the next few years. I am thinking that if you can't stablize someone who's having an MI, maybe Open Heart is just WAY to outta your range ya know? :chuckle
