What is happening in Southern Ohio??

Okay I work/live in Portsmouth, you an RN? SOMC is always hiring. King's Daughters is in Ashland Ky. and is a 45 minute drive. My nursing home was just hiring a RN super. and if your an LPN, well all the nursing homes are always hiring lpns!

When I move back to the area, I am going to possibly go to SOMC, tried to get a job with KDMC after River Valley closed and for some reason they wouldn't hire me and they wouldn't even let me work there as an agency nurse!! Getting a KY license is a bit of a pain though.

Again Heaven, what was your experience with Ky? I was just floored when I called and was speaking to an actual person but she was so confusing in her information, I never did get a straight answer. My packet of information kept referring to a certain forms, used specific numbers for these forms, but I never could find them. I called to request the forms and she said to use some other forms and sure enough I did not have those either. LOL! Too much confusion for me.

This is for some of the older nurses. Do you find age is a factor in your area when it comes to getting a job? Yes, I know it's against the law, now tell the truth, do you feel that age is a factor?

It wasn't so much the paperwork, it was the additional money to pay to the state of WV to have them send the information to KY. The money I had to send to St. Mary's to have them send a transcript (to prove I really did go to school there), the money was the BIG issue with me. This was during a time when I was drawing unemployment and DID NOT have the extra cash to fork out money for all this extra stuff. Did you try checking their website??
