Officially Completed My Contract

Hey everyone,

I completed my contract about a week ago. It was a 2 year contract. I told myself when I finished that I would do my best to try and help others feel less afraid/overwhelmed since that's how I felt, especially in the beginning. If anyone has a questions about my contract or program, how I got into monitoring, some of the stuff we aren't "supposed" to know about or discuss…….or if you just need advice or a place to vent/vocalize frustrations, please reply here or if you need to reach out privately we could do that too.

It's surreal to be finally finished. The biggest thing I feel now besides relief is actually very mild anxiety/gloom. I keep thinking I'm forgetting to do something. It's very hard to be fully relaxed since I'm just thinking over and over "What am I supposed to be doing that I am neglecting to care of". The way I feeling is similar to the ones you get when you don't wake up to your alarm, missed an appointment, left your grocery list at home, made plans on a day you already had plans.

Please don't hesitate to reach out.

How did you end up with a monitoring agreement ? What aren't we supposed to know about? Congrats.  Two years is a lesser sentence than average.

I took a medication from an expired prescription, it was my own RX .... Ended up having a new onset seizure at work (unrelated to the RX I took)…. Got drug tested by my employer and fired due to it being positive for a schedule 2 drug..... even though it was mine because it was expired by like a year or so I got put into the program.

How did you "only" do 2 years?

I believe it's because I do not actually have an addiction issue. No history of drug use, not even weed when I was younger. I might drink around Christmas or at a concert otherwise I don't do that either. I had 0.5mg Xanax RX that I have as needed. I use it VERY rarely if I have a major anxiety attack....like I said the RX was mine but because I don't use it often it was past the 1 year expiration. It expired in mid March and I used it in June. So 2 months basically. I didn't think to request a new one from my primary because I still have plenty left. 2 days before my incident at work I had a huge panic attack that I could not control on my own so I took one. Then 2 days later all it peachy, I'm working as usual and ended up having a seizure at work in the break room. Several months later I had more seizures and had not taken any meds so my neurologist was able to say "yea it wasn't from the meds, that low of a dose isn't going to do that anyway”…….. because I had it at work I got a drug screen, they fired me after the medical officer called me to verify the RX and I gave him the info and he said yea this is expired. My employer sent me to PRN.

Congrats!, When you went for your one-year review did you ask for early release? if so how did the yearly review go ? did you have any hiccups along the way

I'm glad you finished the 2 years and you got out!  Enjoy!

2 years is impossible in my state, it's always 3-5 years monitoring, with 5 years being the standard now.  Everyone is "labeled" with a substance use disorder of some type so they can justify monitoring you for 3-5 years.  So many people don't see this as a permanent thing like "I can't ever drink again."  On the other hand, I'm sure there are many people who should never drink or use any substance again.  But for me, I'm not looking at this as a permanent thing.

But none of this "treatment" is individualized.  Why make people go to AA/NA meetings 3 times a week if it doesn't help?  Group therapy or individual therapy should end at some point - why do it forever?

3 is the norm for my state. Nothing I'm doing is helpful. I'm just doing the bs I have to so u can keep my license. Therapy is not therapeutic.  I pay for fake therapy appointments and to meet with designated providers to have them fill out paperwork.  I go to virtual meetings to have my list available to send in. The other people in group therapy either needed a monitoring agreement or are very good liars. I hate hate this so much

I don't have a sud. I'll celebrate with a champagne brunch when my agreement ends.

Oh that is for sure!  For sure!   For now, it's a game of urine etg, peth tests, and documenting AA/NA meetings and trying to end therapy (there is a guideline that if the therapist agrees, we can stop therapy).

I have a 2-year contract, only less than 6 months in looking forward to a yearly review so I can be free! I too will celebrate with a champagne bottomless mimosa brunch! they are doing more harm than good. AA/NA is a joke I don't relate to and have no need to go, I completed my IOP this week so I'm "safe to practice" (I was never a danger to begin with I'm a F****** student ). I think that the ETG should have a cut-off, if we go over it multiple times then it's a problem because as an adult has a glass of wine or two, it is unrealistic to say an adult who does not have an alcohol problem cannot even have wine braised steak, with a glass of wine  or champagne at a celebrator dinner  FOH

Alcohol would be a bonus. I'd like to be able to take medication for my cough. I'm half dead but no dxm no anything.
