ODU concurrent fall 2015

Published

has anyone applied to ODU for fall 2015? if you did, you can see they gave you the option to choose traditional BSN or riverside concurrent. I work with riverside and was told the concurrent program would be now getting an AAS from riverside while attending odu for your bsn. I was just wondering did anyone apply, and what was your gpa, hesi score , etc. I currently go to TNCC in hampton, finished all my pre-reqs except chemistry & sociology (currently taking), have the experience as a CNA and Anesthesia Technician, the only thing is that my hesi score was an 82% and my gpa is currently a 3.1 (thanks to C's in anatomy) Anyone else applying?

Are you doing your lpn at riverside? Is it hard?

No, I am at Central School of Practical Nursing. It is not easy.

i applied to both. rather go to riverside since its closer to where i live. did the driving last semester to ODU and was tiring.

If I get into Riverside, I will be commuting from Virginia Beach. Not looking forward to that, but I'll take what I can get!

Do you like central school of practical nursing? i thought about doing that if i didn't get into any program

I hand delivered mine also, right after the Hesi test. Im anxious!

I applied to both as well. Im hoping it gives a lot of people equal opportunity to get in both programs. I know they accept 80 usually for the traditional program, I wonder if they'll accept more because of the two choices

How was your schedule and all at the central school of practical nursing? What were the like/ clinicals. Ive been thinking about applying as a backup

I love my instructors and my classmates, we have awesome clinical locations, (OB was my favorite, I was able to assist in a lady partsl birth and observe 2 c-sections, help take care of the babies in the nursery, most of the care on the mom's in the Mother/Baby unit). The school has a very high NCLEX pass rate, but that is because they have high standards, we had 40+ people start the program and right now only have 17 left, and may lose more before graduation. It is not an easy program. However, with the tunnel traffic and tolls, if I were to do it all again, I would have just waited and done the Riverside LPN program. The CSPN program started in Sep 2013, and the Riverside started in Jan 2014, I didn't want to wait anymore. I liked that I have the summer "off" vs. going to school through the summer with Riverside, but had I done that I would have graduated already.

Yeah but CSPN is also way way way cheaper than riverside's or anyone else LPN program. With being an Anesthesia Tech i normally work in the OR at riverside and we occasionally go to Labor & Delivery for C sections or the Cath lab, and neurology lab. I put in all that stuff on my ODU application so hopefully they see it.

I definitely recommend completing your BSN before committing to the Navy lifestyle. It's been tough completing prerequisites and everything with all the moving we do. So I'm really hoping ODU is the school for me. It lines up so perfectly with my husband's retirement!

I'm waiting on pins and needles over here for an acceptance letter! Has anyone heard anything yet?

Nope! i know they said we should know by april 1st when my friend called. Last year people got them around this time so ill be stalking my mailbox this week!
