ODU concurrent fall 2015

Published

has anyone applied to ODU for fall 2015? if you did, you can see they gave you the option to choose traditional BSN or riverside concurrent. I work with riverside and was told the concurrent program would be now getting an AAS from riverside while attending odu for your bsn. I was just wondering did anyone apply, and what was your gpa, hesi score , etc. I currently go to TNCC in hampton, finished all my pre-reqs except chemistry & sociology (currently taking), have the experience as a CNA and Anesthesia Technician, the only thing is that my hesi score was an 82% and my gpa is currently a 3.1 (thanks to C's in anatomy) Anyone else applying?

I applied for ODU and when I hand-delivered my application, I was asked if I wanted to apply to the Riverside concurrent program as well. I agreed to do so since it gives me more options. But my number one choice is ODU, of course! I scored an 87 on the HESI and my GPA is kind of tricky. I have attended multiple colleges since my husband is active duty military, so I'm not sure how that works. Do they just consider the most recent GPA or do they take an average of them all? From most recent to least, I have a 4.0, 3.6, and 3.0. At least it shows steady improvement! I do not have any previous degrees or nursing experience. I am so anxious and really hope I get accepted! Good luck everyone!

Hi am.garrett,

I hand delivered mine as well since I am on campus everyday, why waste stamps! As far as I know, they will only be taking your pre-req GPA. So your GPA of the classes that they care about (AP I & II, Micro, Chem, Developmental..etc).

Hello to all! I am currently working on my prereqs and plan on applying to Riverside in August for the new associates program that starts next June. June is for the night classes and Jan start is for ODU students which is day classes. I'm worried about my gpa and am trying to bring it up with my Science classes I'm in now. Has anyone applied through Riverside only? Is the program very competitive? Is the hesi the same as the TEAS? I have so many questions since they changed the program from last year.

Does anyone know the start and completion date for the Riverside concurrent program? I read the ODU dates online but couldn't find that info for Riverside.

I have not applied directly to Riverside for Nursing. I do know that Riverside is pretty competitive as well. The HESI A2 and the TEAS V are NOT the same. I took the HESI A2 for ODU and thought it was super easy. I have only taken the TEAS V for Allied Health, and it was worlds harder.

I believe the Riverside concurrent program will start in January 2016.

Thanks. I saw the start date, but I couldn't find information on how many semesters and whether they are consecutive through the summer like the ODU. I'm just trying to estimate a graduation date should I go that route because my husband is military and we're only here for so long.

Im not sure which GPA they go by! And wow you did so good on your hesi, i was happy to get in the 80's!! my Gpa is currently a 3.1 so hopefully my volunteer and work experience makes up for that. This is my first choice school so maybe admission will not be as hard considering its two choices of a program.Good luck to you too! I'm wondering when we will receive these letters

I am unsure if riverside goes through the summer. But I know you will need to add a semester or two on to your graduation date from riverside for completion of the BSN. I understand the whole military thing, my boyfriend will be PCSing in September from Guam. We are waiting for me to be done with school before we get married. It sucks, but is way easier in the long run.

Do you know if they (Riverside) will still accept credits from Portage?

I'm not for sure. I know before they accepted from pratt and that didn't change. So it probably hasn't changed for portage either.

I am torn between doing the lpn program or RN. I feel like I can get into the lpn a lot easier and faster then bridge over later.

I will be graduating with my LPN soon, then I plan on doing a bridge program. I needed to start and finish something at this duty station. Just trying to plan ahead.
