14 Oct OBLC Date

Published

Hi,

I just wanted to let you know that our Army AKO addresses have important information for us to review prior to attending OBLC. I hope to see you in October!

Hi GnPhD,

I don't see that info on my ako site. Where is it?

Hi GnPhd,

It's not in my email--but I think the paperwork is still going through. I will call HRC this week!

thanks for the head's up,

cindy :)

Cindy,

Let me know if you need me to forward you the letter as it has our schedule in there. Please pm me with your email address so that I can fwd it to you.

I understand as I am still waiting on my orders to arrive. I was told that they would be here by the 2nd week of September, but they are nowhere to be found.

Are you talking about the class verification? I got mine last week along with a phone call from branch asking where I wanted to be stationed. I did print off the class schedule after going to the OBLC website. I still don't have any orders either. I haven't even commissioned yet because I'm still waiting on a waiver. A lady that I spoke with who scheduled the class date said not to worry, everything will happen before the class date. I hope so!

Hi MSN,

There was an email sent out from the class advisor via our AKO addresses that had the welcome letter and other forms attached. I am sure that the OBLC website has the same information.

I was also told that my orders would be here prior to start and was told that waivers have already been approved if you talked to someone in the ANC because you needed the waiver to get boarded and would have been selected without it. It took me 4 weeks to get my first set of orders, I am now waiting on the correct ones which I am hoping come soon.

As far as our AD commission, it will happen 3 days before OBLC, or so I have been told.

Time is ticking and having waited a year I cannot wait to start the process. I spoke with someone last year right before I took my USAR oath and was told where I was going, and luckily is has not changed..as you never know what can happen in a year.

Hi all,

I have been stalking the allnurses.com boards for a while, and finally decided to join. I too will be attending 14 Oct OBLC. I have my orders, but I need to have them amended. I commissioned two days ago, bought my uniforms and all the stuff on the OBLC checklist yesterday. That was a fun bill!

Anyhow, I look forward to seeing you all there and beginning this new chapter in my career/life. Do you know where you are going after OBLC?

Congratulations! My class date was cancelled last week. They rescheduled me for the January class due to over booking. They are giving me the opportunity to go directly to my duty assignment. I picked Walter Reed in the Warrior Transition Battalion as a Case Manager. I'm currently working with wounded warriors and the transition should be pretty smooth. I wish you luck and am looking forward to going. Oh by the way... what was that uniform bill? I'll still have to get everything on the list before I leave for Washington, DC. I'm not prepared for the sticker shock of all the uniforms so let me brace myself!! Where are you going after OBLC?

Hi Opti,

I am going to DDEMAC, which is at Ft. Gordon. Where are you going? Congrats to you. I take my AD oath on the 7th. Are you flying or driving? See you there. I still have to purchase some uniforms as I was able to travel to a local base and try them on..only my size was not available. I was told that my amendments might not come through until the end of Oct, while I am at OBLC. My PMO told me that the original orders should be fine for what we need them for. If you want, send me a pm and/or email.

MSN,

Bummer about your class getting canceled due to overbooking. There is always the possibility a spot will open up due to a cancellation. I originally wanted to attend the August class, but it was supposedly full. Then when I got a call about my choices for a first duty assignment, I was told a spot had opened up if I wanted to attend. Unfortunately that was 3 days before the class were to begin, and I was not prepared at the time as I had been anticipating leaving in October. Had everything been in order, I would be ready to graduate the class now. So you never know if a spot might become available.

As for the uniform bill, if you get everything on the OBLC "minimum requirements" packing list, it gets expensive fast. I opted to purchase a few more items than necessary, such as 4 set of ACU's as oppose to 3 and additional name tapes and badges/patches for the ACU's and for spares. I still need to buy another pair boots though, so my total is probably about where the "minimum requirements" packing list should be. So far, that total is right around $800. That does not include the dress blue uniform as I am holding off on that as long as possible. I am not prior service, so I had to start from scratch. Not a fun bill at all.

My recruiter and few others carpooled to Ft. Irwin yesterday to try and purchase all the items. Unfortunately they were out of a lot of stuff. I was only able to get one ACU in my size as that was all they had in my size. So I bought what I could, and ordered the rest online last night. Spent $300 at the base, and another $500 online. Hopefully your base will be better supplied.

Case manager huh? That's great! I used to be a social worker in a previous life, but decided I wanted to more directly work with people so I chose nursing. I am a new grad having just completed an entry level masters program, so I am starting out the way any other new grad in the army would, Med/Surg. Do you have a lot of prior case management experience?

I'm supposed to be there Oct 14 but I haven't yet been commissioned and ∴ I do not have a Pay Entry Base Date and cannot log into AKO.

I got an email saying "Course Reservation Verification" and I got a call telling me where I will be stationed after the first of the year.

Jeez. I already feel like I'm falling behind.
