I was wondering what everyone's GPA and Preference Points were, also I was wondering if the new math placement test is as hard for everyone else as it was for me (I couldn't make the minimum requirement for the 2 preference points) so now I only have 15 preference points with a 3.3 GPA. I don't think I will make it in because of the math test.

Regarding the math test, what did the applicants have to score in order to acquire the preference points for previous semesters? I can't remember what it was and am curious about what the changes were.

I didn't take a different test. They took my ACT scores, so I'm not sure.

I wish that they could've used my ACT scores, but they were too old.... It would've been nice not to stress about the other tests. I was surprized over how difficult it was, and wicked thankful I had broken out my (9 year old) college algebra book.

Oh wow. My ACT scores were from 2007

They don't take scores older than five years... The last time took the ACT was my senior year of high school in '02.

Ahh, that makes sense.

They changed the math test and it is much harder...you have to make a 70% on the whole test.

So before you had to make a 70% only on the first two parts of the test, instead of the whole?

If I remember correctly I think there were 3 different scores you could use to meet the requirement 1 score for each part of the test but now instead its all three parts of the test and one score you must meet to make the requirement. Does that makes sense? Its sort of hard for me to try and describe it.

Haha, I know it can be frustrating trying to explain.... But I understand your explanation, and can kind of recall seeing that point structure with the math. Now I can see how that would really lower a person's points. I was assuming the change was a higher percentage standard, or that the harder college algebra section wasn't part of the test at all. Judging by what my advisor and the people at the test center were saying, I'd bet there will be a decrease in the cut off points like some of the other posts on here have suggested.

I'd give anything for a crystal ball right now!

I'm praying that the test causes a decrease in the cut off points but from what I can tell everyone on here still has around 17 so it's making me VERYY nervous. I have taken all the classes and that math test is the only way I have left to bring my points back up to 17 so I feel like I got the short end of the stick. :scrying:

Well, just remember that there are only a handful of people who have posted their points on here which isn't a very accurate sample. Yesterday, I spoke to a former classmate who is in the same boat as you. There were also quite a few girls who took the teas test with me saying they have the same issue. I wonder, on average, how many applicants they get every semester...

Yesterday they said they have received over 200 applications, which is a little higher than normal. Don't give up yet guys! Hang in there!
