heard it from Dr. Boulos herself!
Fetachz, how heavy is the workload for the accelerated as opposed to the regular track? More specifically, how many hours are you either at school or in clinicals per week, roughly? I am planning for the accelerated, but I was under the impression that it was only 3 weeks shorter than the regular track (that's what they said in the seminar last year anyway!). BTW, congratulations on graduating!! :-) I hope your interviews are going/went well!
Bigdude, it sounds to me as if you have a Bachelor's already. If you have the time (lots of hours per week), and the $$ (OU's second degree accelerated bachelor's is $25,000), those programs may be great for you. I have a bachelor's degree, yet neither the time nor the money for those programs (stay at home mom of 2 little ones). OCC is great for me. I have heard great things both of UDM and OU. I believe UoM also has a program at Flint. Good luck to you!!

I have a Bachelor's degree and I am only interested in accelerated programs.
You're right...I just re-checked the info packet. The seminar I went to last year did say that after Jan. 2012 start there was a 1 1/2 year wait list. What about OCC's accelerated for ADN, then accelerated RN/BSN completion which is almost 100% online? Just a thought. Good luck with whatever you decide. I turned in my application today to OCC! :-) (I too, already have a Bachelor's).

Thanks
anyway you take it, its alot of work. youll be in clinical 16-24 hours a week, theory 4-8 hours a week and lab 6 hours or so a week. im a huge slacker and was still averaging 15 or so hours of homework/papers/studying a week.
the work isnt mind blowingly difficult, but there is so much of it!! consider yourself MIA while in the prog. also they are not dragging out the accelerated prog. there are no semester breaks, and the prog is one of the most comprehensive in the country. so far every interview ive been on the managers and HR have nothing but good things to say about it. also, out class is 100% so far in passing the NCLEX, OU & UofD arnt even close.

Sounds like a solid program. I am interested in a BSN.
To those who have graduated from or who are in the OCC accelerated program, is there a strong online component for the theory portion? Are assignments submitted online? Are there lots of papers to write? How are quizzes and exams administered? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
what up bigdude, im the OP to this thread and graduated last Aug 27th. the accelerated prog looks like its going to be offered but its been cut to 30 students. the 1st and 2nd cohort were 60 students. from what it seems you pretty much need a 4.0 to get into the accelerated now. i got in with a 3.97and i think my classes cutoff was 3.85.accelerated or not, OCC has the best prog in the state. GO THERE. anywhere i interview OCC is highly regarded and we have one of the best NCLEX passing rates in the country. Teachers are top notch and we have the most clinical hours in the state. our assessment labs are equivalent to NP preparation.
i cant say enough about this prog.
good luck
And don't forget to mention how dirt cheap our program is. My full tuition was only 7k for top notch education. Sure it is only an ADN but I can transfer over to OU and complete my BSN in only a couple years and I feel I am getting a much better education.
I will be graduating in May 2001
