I would like to become an ob nurse but after I see the miracle of life happen I forget my nursing duties. How do I get over it so I can do my job?

Can you elaborate? What do you mean you "forget" your nursing duties?

I totally understand. It takes at least a good 3 minutes before your brain starts to work again. I think with time this time will become shorter. Also as we gain more experience we will perform the tasks we need to on auto pilot.:roll

Probably, your appreciation of 'the miracle' will make you a great L&D nurse. Just be sure to have another nurse in the room with you at delivery time to monitor baby, and you can 'stay with mom'. The newness will wear off and all the tasks will become routine eventually. Enjoy the novelty while it lasts!

WHAT are we talking about??? What am I missing???

You see a baby born and your mind goes blank?? Is that it? I honestly have NO CLUE what you are referring to that you forget nursing duties after birth.

You are totally out of line there tapper....name calling isn't called for.

hey Tapper... you have the option to edit any post you make :imbar

Or you could just stop and think for a minute before you say something so immature....

And believe me, I think nothing gets a point across better than the frivolous use of the f-word, but that was uncalled for.

This, by far, has to be the most twilight zone thread I have ever read. Now I see that someone named Tapper posted something using an expletive...however it must've been deleted 'cuz I can't see it.

And it started out with someone saying they forget their nursing duties when they see infants.

Odd....very......odd.

Seems Tapper may have deleted his/her post, or maybe a moderator did.

Either way, I don't think Tapper likes you Susy :bluecry1:

I deleted trappers post due to foul language and name calling, sorry for the confusion.
