Hi my name is Karen and I'm an RN currently working LDRP and Clinical Nursing instructor for PEDS. I just would like to talk to and find out what is going on out there in the World of Nursing everywhere. I'm currently attempting to pursue my MSN. I started out in Nursing with an ADN then BSN. I would LUV hearing from you.To all that read this you are truly a special person to do what you do every day sacrificing normal working hours, weekends, sleep, breaks, even lunch or dinner( and let's not forget even bathroom time) and family, Your patients are very lucky to have had you!!! for that brief moment in time.

Karen would love to e-mail back and forth. I'm at [email protected]

Hi Karen--My name is Elena. After working in computer graphics for 14 years (I have a BA in Fine Art, earned in 1984), I am planning on returning to school, either in the Fall of 2000 or the Spring of 2001, to get an ADN (and eventually I'll also earn a BSN, but first things first...). I'd like to specialize in Maternal/Baby care (new moms and their babies), and was wondering if you might have any advice. I realize that nursing is often a thankless job, and the salaries are nowhere near what they SHOULD be, considering you all know virtually as much as doctors know (often more), but it seems like it would be a very satisfying field, where one could go home feeling like they had perhaps made a difference in someone's life...at least for that day. Feel free to email me if you have time: [email protected] Take care. Nurses do one of the most important jobs in the world, and you certainly deserve better than you get!

karen, my name is Bethany. I am an L&D nurse in a level 2 unit, i love L&D but hunger for it to be more natural and less procedural. my email is [email protected] hope to hear from you!!!

Hi Karen. My name is Jennifer and I am currently a sahm of 2 small kids. I have a BS in Chemistry and a high school teacher certification, but I am now following my dream. I am returning to school to become an RN, but I already know what I want to specialize in - l/d and/or nursery. Is it normal to know what type of nursing you want to do before you even graduate? I would love to e-mail with you and since you live in PA (me too) and are a l/d nurse I was hoping you could answer some of my questions and provide some insight into exactly what an average day is like in l/d. I love pregnancy and the birth process and babies and am very excited about starting this profession. I hope to hear from you soon! My e-mail is [email protected]. Thanks.

I too would like to have some L&D E-mail buddies. I am an RN currently training to be an L&D nurse. Prior to this, I worked Med-Surg and ICU but always wanted L&D. Training is going well, I'm really enjoying it but at times it can be scary too!
