According to LMP of Feb. 17, 2002, she is due Nov. 24, 2002
According to date of conception of 3/3/02, she is due Dec. 8, 2002
OB's see the ultrasound date as the most accurate; the earliest U/S being the most accurate. That is why due dates often change after U/S is done and it usual does push the date ahead some. Remember that a term infant can be anywhere between 38 and 42 weeks. Less than 5% of babies are born on their due dates. Sure makes it hard to make a plan, doesn't it?! Some pregnant moms lactate early on. This is due to hormonal changes and not a reliable indicator of what point of gestation she is in.

Not that this helps but I just though I would add that my OB gave me a due date of Feb 23rd by ultrasound... and I ended up having my daughter on Jan 31st and she was 8 pounds and completely full term. He had definately given me a very off due date!

This won't help either ... but I thought it was cute
When I found out I was pregnant ... I used the add one week subtract 3 months ... and came up with July 6th. Now my little boy was born ON his due date. When I was in labor, the nurse was getting all my info & she asked me when my baby was due. I said today. She said "No, really, when is his due date?" :chuckle

when the "due date" can differ by 2 weeks either way, I would not plan heavily on it at all. Unless you plan to be around for 4 weeks, even in the BEST accuracy situation, you won't be there when the baby decides to make its debut, likely. I wish you all well and good luck!

Originally posted by k123456 My sister-in-law is pregnant and today we started thinking that maybe the due date she was told is wrong. When we add 40 weeks or 280 days to the start of her LMP, we get a completely different date. Here's the information: Due date from her OB doc: 12/25/02 Start of LMP: 2/17/02 Date of Conception: 3/3/02 (She was taking fertility drugs and keeping VERY explicit records of her sexual activity and results of an ovulation kit and so she thinks this date is pretty accurate). Result of U/S #1: On 5/21/02, fetus = 2 inchesResult of U/S #2: On 6/18/02, fetus = 4.8 inches She started lactating today. When she first went for a preganancy test at her doctor's they originally thought she might be having twins because her "labs" were so high. U/S clearly shows only one fetus. So, what do you guys think??? This just occurred to her today and all of our family has already bought plane tickets for around Christmas. I realize you never know anyway exactly when a baby will come, but if we add 280 days to her LMP we get a due date closer to Thanksgiving NOT Christmas. That is VERY different. I appreciate everyone's thoughts. PS - She has an appt. at her OB in 3 weeks, but is very upset and stressed by the possibility that she is a month further than she was told.

Okay.....k123456......the rule of thumb in calculating the approximate birthday of a little one is this:
Add seven days to the first day of the last period, then count back three months.
If your sister-in-law's last menstrual cycle was 2-17-02, then she would be due 11-24-02.
First day of last period was the 17th.....add 7 days...that makes it the 24th.
Subtract (count back) 3 months from February (the month she had her last period).....you get November.
Baby's approximate due date: 24 November 02......I'd say....get ready to celebrate a Thanksgiving baby! And um....I'm "feeling" that the baby is going to be a girl. Let me know if I'm "feeling" it right....or wishful thinking on my part. :kiss

Congrats k123456 for the new neice or nephew on the way!
Nothing new, just reminded me of me :) With my son, my LMP was 2/17 and conception 3/5...his due date was set for around the 20th varied a little but we stuck with that day, but of course he was born the 13th. Babies do make travel plans difficult!
Thanksgiving babies!! :kiss

Don't ya just love it when someone says, " the doctor gave me a due date of XXX" ?
Doctors can give you one?? Like you didn't have anything to do with it?? Like the conception was under the doctors' control (barring IVF) ???
Cracks me up. Never known a doctor to give me any blooming thing.....except grief!!!!!!
