OAKLAND COMMUNITY COLLEGE 2019

Pre-nursing students applying for Fall 2020/Winter 2021 start date at Oakland Community College

Hello all ?

I am applying for Oakland Community College Nursing program in a few weeks and have loads of questions. Are you applying too? What's the GPA cut off? If you've graduated from or attended the program, how was/is it? Which is better, fall or winter start?

I am excited to apply and excited to meet other applying as well! We've got this!

@Fairrah Pauley I did the same I was finishing up Micro and Human A+P 2 when I applied, and from my understanding the counselor said it would be added after you completed the class to complete your application.

@knrogers54321 I was finishing up A&P 2 and my Humanities course at the time of application, December 2019.

@TrustTheProcess16 You were taking A&P and micro at the same time? That must have been difficult. The councilor told me something similar. When I read the admissions guidelines where is says 2 priority it states that if you have not taken a fine arts and humanities course you are priority 2. I’m not sure if it means if you don’t take fine arts and humanities at all or just haven’t completed it at the time of application. It’s a little confusing.

Yes it was kind of difficult, but they were the last two classes I had to take to apply. I wanted to apply by the 2019 deadline. I noticed on the application they put that the classes were currently in progress so I think once grades were posted they counted the classes. As long as they were completed by the end of Fall 2019 semester to be considered priority 1.

I'm sure you will be just fine! I wish we knew how many people applied.

Yes, I’m sure we will all get in with all the spots available! I’m excited for this upcoming month!

I'm going to aim for Winter start just because my husband said that pharmacology was one of the hardest classes he took. He said you're just kind of thrown into a new way of test taking and it takes a little to get use too. I don't think I want to do that in a Summer course ?

I already quit my job so I’m shooting for fall!

Should we start a facebook group after we get the letters? It will be nice going into the program knowing people!

I think that would be a good idea. I noticed there are a few OCC Nursing groups on facebook, I was going through one the other day to get some insight.
