Hello, I am looking to start the program in Fall of 2017! I'm looking to meet students and take this journey together and share our experience
Jolene my granny came down with Alzheimer's the last few years of her life and that's some of the reason I thought about it. I'd go and see her at the nursing home but when I'd be there I'd sit and talk to some of the other residents also. I was surprised at how some of them wouldn't get visitors.
@aprilee1993 and @studentmom10 - nice I heard Dearborn's where it's at for those who wish to climb the proverbial (career) ladder; it's there all the big-wigs are. I think that I know a few people who work or have worked on Rotunda- my husband's family is a big Ford family.
@studntmom10 - I can't wait for clinicals!!! Although once, while in the ER at Wayne Annapolis, I did see a nursing student get torn apart by her preceptor because she was having a hard time starting an IV . It was a long time ago but from what I remember she couldn't find the vein and poked the patient like 10xs lol.
@aprilee1993 I will, I love food lol especially breakfast foods! I found this little place in St. Ignace that has the best Pasties- I think it was Bessie's. Their beef jerky, amazing. While you are living down here you have to check out the wet side of the state- near Ludington and visit the sand dunes!!
My mail is going to Milford, a smaller sized town. So hopefully my letter gets here today.
@ReadyToNurse that's really common. From my experience, it's actually (more-so) uncommon for dementia care patients to get visitors than not. It's sad. I mean.. I can understand it from both sides bc my husband's grandma was diagnosed within the last couple of years and has recently moved into a smaller private care home- I think there are only 4 beds and the whole house is run by a nurse.
@studentmom10 humm I think the GM proving grounds has their race track there lol. My uncle works there and tests the new cars on the track! My parents live right down the street from the proving grounds. Let's see Milford is also known for Camp Dearborn, Kensington, and Milford Memories to me it's just known as "home" lol.
What's all in Ludington? It's hard for my boyfriend and I to get out explore because he works 8-5 M-Fri and I work 4:30-2am Wednesday-Sunday. I'm always down to see new places though! I'm in Auburn Hills, so I'm starting to doubt I'll even have mine to be honest. Kind or disappointed. My boyfriends father actually works at GM and is pretty high up in the company so it's funny listening to them talk about work.
@Aprilee1993 The Ludington/ Hart area is great! I'd lived over that way for a few years. Attractions include: Lake MI (warm enough to swim in during the summer lol), hiking, trail riding, taking a Jeep or ATV through the sand dunes, camping, fishing, visiting the light houses, summer festivals/fairs etc. We usually take a long weekend to go out that way- like on a holiday weekend.
Ya I prefer Chevy so my husband and I always get our digs in lol.
