You will most likely start at about 50,000 NZD per year. If you work in a public hopspital, it does not matter where you , it is the same. I am not familiar with private hosptials. Your tax rate will be 30% with no deductions. The cost of living is very high here. Everything costs more. If you are coming here for a lifestyle, then it is a good choice. You will, however, not be very happy if money is very important. Unless you have big money to bring to NZ, I would suggest you avoid Auckland all together. A one bedroom apartment will cost you $1200/month in the city or nearly 1/2 of your income. Wellington is about the same.
Read the NZ Herald or the Dominion online everyday for a while.

hi chigap
i'm a registered nurse here in the philippines who are on the process of moving there in new zealand. my agency has promised me that i will be able to leave for new zealand this coming january.
also i have also some job offers in ireland and already have the registration in their board of nursing. i'm leaning toward choosing your country because of the quite and simple life there. i would like to know on where i can find some information regarding the cost of living and the salary scale for nurses there in new zealand as it will help me a lot in my final decision. currently i have more than 2 yeard experience in various clinical settings like icu, picu, nicu, nscu and medical surgical ward.
thanks a lot

Yes, I agree that Auckland and Wellington are expensive places to live in. You can try other cities eg New Plymouth, Palmerston North, Wanganui etc etc. Remember, major cities are more expensive but the pay rates are the same all over the country if you work in public.
The following is a link to all the District Health Boards in NZ
http://www.moh.govt.nz/moh.nsf/wpgIndex/Links-District+Health+Boards+Contents
You can click on the link and you will get demographic info about the hospital and the city etc etc
Lots of blessings on your search.

Hi,
a little bit of good news for New Zealand nurses recently is that we have just got a pay rise ( i think its 3%, not huge but better than nothing and another 3% the following year), and more paid sick leave also can be taken to care for dependants. You also get another weeks paid leave if you have worked at hospitals for more than 5 years.
I live in Auckland and it is expensive: rent and food generally too. But Auckland is a nice place to live, especially is you like the outdoors and the beach. A quiet place to live.
The pay at auckland hospital is scaled to your years working, experience. Its a good hosiptal to work at and I have found most managers very keen for staff to study and upskill.
Good Luck.

salary for RN'S is capped at 27 per hr for nurses who got 5 yrs experience..so if your experience is 2 yrs you will be RN yr 3..which means you will get lower than 27 dollars basic pay per hour
