NZ salary
Hi, a little bit of good news for New Zealand nurses recently is that we have just got a pay rise ( i think its 3%, not huge but better than nothing and another 3% the following year), and more paid sick leave also can be taken to care for dependants. You also get another weeks paid leave if you have worked at hospitals for more than 5 years. I live in Auckland and it is expensive: rent and food generally too. But Auckland is a nice place to live, especially is you like the outdoors and the beach. A quiet place to live. The pay at auckland hospital is scaled to your years working, experience. Its a good hosiptal to work at and I have found most managers very keen for staff to study and upskill. Good Luck. :)

Nursing in Germany
Hi, Just wondering if anybody out there can tell me anything they know about Nursing in Germany? I am a registered nurse with several years of Oncology and chemotherapy experience. I have heard that nursing in general is not well paid or well respected generally by the public in Germany?. Also that there is a high patient to nurse ratio ? and difficult workign conditions? Doesn't sound too good. Just wondered if anyone could comment on whether this was true or not? I speak basic German having spent some time there a few years ago. I have often wondered about how I would go about registering to be a nurse there and if it would be possible to get a job there and how It would compare to nursing in the UK and New Zealand. Obviously I would need to improve my German too :) can anyone help me with this? Hope so :) Jane.

Hallo Nutella, my name is Jane Ross. Perhaps I can help you with your English although It looks like it is already very good. I am 27,from New Zealand but have been living in London England for the last 4 years. Would you like to write to each other to improve your english? or you can ask me questions? I would like to ask you a few questions too if possible!! Let me know if this is Ok and if you understand everything that I write! I am currently working in an Oncology ward in a private hospital . I really like working in Ooncology, we give chemotherapy here and look after patients in all stages of cancer treatment from recieving radiotherapy to the last stage ( dying). what about you? where are you working and living in America? I Imagine it is very different to Germany. I lived in Berlin for a few months und ich kann ein bisschien Deusch sprechen. I had a German boyfriend you see, but now I am single. Ich werde gern in Berlin arbeiten aber Ich weis nicht , wie ich kann ein job finden?. Do you have any advice? Do the hospitals advertise jobs ? are there websites where jobs are advertised? Well I hope I can help you a little and good luck!! all the best, liebe Grusse Jane.
