Hi, I'm starting this thread because there are only Accelerated BSN threads out there. If you applied to NYU's nursing program as a transfer student without an undergrad degree, I would love to hear from you! I recently found a traditional transfer thread from many years ago and it seemed like not many of the applicants were accepted. This has me worried as I applied as a traditional transfer, regular decision. Is there a possibility NYU only really considers students as traditional freshmen and ABSN students?
Thanks! Good luck to you too. My gpa is a 3.9, it's probably the only thing I had going for me until I found out it's not as important. I'm hoping they'll look at my most recent college achievements vs. the start of my college career which is characterized by a lot of Cuny transfers and bad grades. Only ec I have is volunteer work with patients who suffer from Alzheimer's. And I sent in two strong LORs. My ps was honest about my failures and how I hope to continue to redeem myself and achieve my goals etc.. I'm hoping that my transparency will work in my favor and I'm hoping for the best! I go to Hunter college now and they apparently also a great nursing program but I would literally give anything to attend NYU Meyers. After all the reasearch I've done on their program I'm convinced it's the best option.
Hi guy's, Sorry for the late response, been a little busy. So here goes:
Overall GPA: 3.9
I resubmitted two letters of recommendations
Solid essay (in my opinion lol) explaining on why I have what it takes to be a nurse and why I'm a perfect fit for NYU.
Ive been a Camp EMT for kids for a couple of Summers so, I wrote that as my medical backround experience as well.
I spoke to a couple of other transfer students and not all had a high GPA or medical experiences. I think they look on your application as a whole and decide based on many small factors. I would recommend writing in detail, on why you stand out more than someone else.
Good luck to all...
