NYU Fall 2018 New Grad Nurse Residency

U.S.A. New York

Published

Hello everyone,

I applied to the NYU Fall 2018 New Grad Nurse Residency Program back in September. It has been 2 months and I haven't gotten any updates about my application status. I would like to know if anyone who has applied to this program has heard anything back? Also, does anyone know when the Fall Residecy program actually begins and when they get back to you for interviews?

Thanks

NYU has been on a massive hiring freeze for the past few months so it may be a while before you hear back. They still have a lot of May 2018 new grads trying to find positions which are every limited throughout the hospitals in the first place. I'm not trying to discourage you, but rather just explain what's up. Generally you'll hear back from a recruiter who may give you a phone screening interview, then you'll be asked for NCLEX date and other milestones. There isn't really a set "start date", it's more of a "as positions become available" kind of deal. They usually have monthly cohort start dates. However like I said at the moment you and other Fall grads may be facing competition from May 2018 grads who for the most part already have their RN license and have been waiting on these positions for a while!

Has anyone heard back about the Fall cohort? I applied to the winter cohort and application still says under review. Has anyone gotten an interview or phone screen?

Yes I had a phone screen. They can hire new grads first of every month, but they prefer that you have your license before you apply.Thats what one of the recruiters told me doing the process. I had an interview with them and she said she would get back to me oneness I have my NCLEX date. Hang in there!!!

You had a phone screen for the fall cohort? When did you apply, and when did u get a call back? I do have my license now and applied to the winter cohort.

No for the spring cohort I applied around September had the call in November and another in December. Now they are waiting on me to send my stuff once I have it. I would recommend applying to NYP or Sloan cause NYPwont even touch my app until I have my RN

Ahh! Keep me posted. I just heard back and can’t tell if it was a subtle rejection or there actually is little availability of positions ?

I had a phone interview and was in touch with a recruiter from October, she informed me there was a freeze and that new grad positions would start opening up mid Dec./ early Jan. She told me to check in with her the 1st week of Dec, I did and still nothing was open and she told me she would check-in with me in a few weeks.

Fast forward to mid Jan I was set up on two interviews on separate units and had to take a med math exam at HR, I was given an offer last week and start March 4th.

Remember to include your GPA on your resume, recruiters will not look at an application if it is not included. Also, your GPA must 3.5< for a new grad to be hired into the organization.

Good luck to all!! ?

Congratulations!!!! Would you mind sharing which floors you interviewed on?

I got an offer for a surgical floor I was supposed to interview for oncology but they messed up. I am just going to stick with Sloan for my offer
