I was recently accepting to NYU's accelerated nursing program for the spring. I am slightly concerned about the financial requirements of the program. Do you think its best to live on or off campus? If anyone else has been recently accepted, have you received your financial aid award letter yet?

I don't go to nyu, but I've lived in nyc for 20 years,
I don't know where you're from, but it is insanely expensive here
the first time you walk into a "2 bedroom" apartment for $1500 a month you'll think, "my garage back home was bigger than this whole apartment"
it is possible to find something "cheap" $700 - $900, but you'll probably end up way up in north manhattan, riverdale or the bronx
check out craigslist
http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/aap/
probably look for a share with nyu or columbia students
check out the neighbords Washington Heights, Inwood, MorningSide (don't worry about Harlem, its not bad)

Hey i also got accepted to the spring 09 semester at NYU 15 month program. Although I still havnt received my acceptance letter yet. I only got an email so far. Have you already sent in your deposit? how much is the deposit to the program?
For rent ive been checking out craigslist and its pretty expensive, even compared to LA prices its pretty bad. I was wondering if theres any students in the NYU 15 month program who would wanna get a room together? I would love to have a roommate in the same program.
sorry, does anyone know when the spring 09 classes start?
The tuition deposit is $500 and an additional $300 for housing. Courses begin Jan. 20; however, orientation is Jan. 12.

Are there any other summer 2009 15-month BSN applicants? I sent my application off to NYU back in October, and am hoping to get into the program.
From what I've heard, we will hear in April. Can anyone else confirm this??

Hey everyone,
I have a quick question. I applied to the Accelerated program in August and still haven't heard anything. Ms. Maggie said it was in the mail and I should get a decision this week but tomorrow is the last day of this week~ Is this a bad sign or is NYU usually late in letting you know? I did not get any emails either yet. Does NYU send emails only to students that are admitted?

i just received my acceptance letter today.. the letter was sent out on the 17th so it took a while to get to my house even though i live 40 minutes away. i didnt get an email so dont take it as a bad sign
Thanks Santa and congrats on getting in!
That makes me feel much better! I didn't get anything yesterday either, but I live in Georgia and I heard the mail was pretty backed up so I am hoping to hear this week! Hopefully it will be very soon! Thank you for responding so quick. I had got an email about 2 wks ago that said they had reviewed my file but no decision has been made. I didn't know if I should take that as a good or bad thing. Did anyone else get that email besides me?
Thanks everyone

i cannot believe that orientation is in two weeks. i just received my acceptance letter yesterday. They actually expect us to plan and arrange our housing/financial aid/travel plans etc in a matter of two weeks?? i am so overwhelmed!
Does anyone know if we need to have our CPR certificate and health screening prior to the start of the program? I know many nursing schools require it but I'm not sure about NYU.

Hello everyone! I got my acceptance letter on Christmas eve. So excited! However I have an incredible job at UCLA that I want to stay at for a while longer before starting the program, so I plan on deferring until Fall 09. Does anyone know the deferral policy?

I am currently in the 15 month accelerated nursing program and just finished my first semester. I currently live in the financial district which is 10 minutes away from NYU on the subway. My apt is very big and already furnished. Since my bf is moving to New York I am trying to sublet my place. If anyone is interested in housing please let me know. Also I have books from first semester if anyone is interested in buying them off me.
As a suggestion I would suggest not living in the dorms if you are not into sharing a bedroom with someone else. I'm sure there are OK roommates but for the price and the risks I don't think it's worth it. Just my 2 cents.
Congrats to u all!
