  1. Well, gtshin30303, I'm sure many of us didn't realize how difficult it would be. However, there are numerous reasons why someone would spend the money, maybe they have the money, maybe it's a family legacy, maybe they value the "NYU name", maybe they needed an accelerated BSN program, maybe they just wanted to try out NYC. I could go on and on. Everyone's reasons/values differ.
  2. Hi! I graduated in May 2010 as well. I know it has been difficult for many grads; however, here in the last few weeks everyone I knew who was unemployed got multiple offers. My advice is to network; talk with nurse managers on the clinical floors you are on about possible job opportunities or just advice. Utilize all contacts you have. Make sure you begin applying to internships/programs prior to graduation (beginning of your last semester).
  3. Hi! Do not be discouraged. I am in the same position as Mellojello. It definitely takes time, I applied to the same Dallas hospitals with no response. Use every contact you have, your instructors and professors may have a contact you could use. I would also apply to neighboring hospitals outside of Dallas. You should be able to work with a temporary permit in long term acute facilites, give them a call. Once you have your license, look for positions that will keep your skills up such as immunization clinics.
  4. Hi! You've got a lot of great info on this thread. I am a recent second degree grad (May 10) and have had a difficult time finding a job. My advice network, network, network, while in your clinical courses. Meet with the nurse managers of the floors you are on to discuss future job possibilties, or to simply get advice on jobs in the area. Talk with a professor(s) about your future goals they will have loads of advice AND be able to connect you with others in the practice.
  5. I am interviewing for an ED position. Thanks for the link, jadu1106, and the well wishes.
  6. I have had a phone screening with them. I called to check on the status of my app and the recruiter scheduled a phone screening with me for later that week. I haven't heard anything since and was told they would be scheduling interviews later this month. I have an interview with Children's later this week, any advice on behaviorial interview questions ("tell me a time when...")? Good luck to both of you.
  7. The tuition deposit is $500 and an additional $300 for housing. Courses begin Jan. 20; however, orientation is Jan. 12.
  8. I was recently accepting to NYU's accelerated nursing program for the spring. I am slightly concerned about the financial requirements of the program. Do you think its best to live on or off campus? If anyone else has been recently accepted, have you received your financial aid award letter yet?
