Hello everyone! I made this thread in order to find everyone is also also planning on applying NYU accelerated nursing program. The application for the spring opens on October 1st and I am so excited! :)
Congrats to everyone accepted into the spring! Can anyone tell me what kind of financial aid they actually offer? I was thinking of applying to the fall but the tuition is scaring me lol ... Also do yo feel they don't give as much aid since this is a second bachelors degree? I been hearing a lot of stories of how the job market in the city isn't good right now for new grads and I wouldn't want to be that much in debt if I can't even find a job after graduation.

They actually offer scholarships from NYU and extra you can apply for! If you didn't max out your federal loans they offer those as well! good luck :)
It's basically 4-5 days a week, some days being clinical days which can be at any hospital in pretty much any borough of the city. Some take almost an hour to commute to..(I had a Peds rotation in the back back back of Brooklyn and it took forever to get to.) And there's one you need to use metro north to get to which I remember being a long commute as well. Basically all of them I guess, because when clinical begins promptly at 7 and you're not allowed to be 2 minutes late, you end up going early in case public transportation sucks. You do make your own schedule to an extent.. You're handed a progression map of what you're taking in which semester and you choose what sections to sign up for (hoping the one you want isn't filled) because remember, it's all the accelerated students AND traditional students together. You choose class sections and clinical sections but are not guaranteed ANY specific one you may want The program is time consuming.. I did hold a job 15 minutes from campus and probably worked about 30h a week, but it was very difficultThanks for getting back to me! Do you think it's possible to commute from Long Island? How many days a week do you have classes do you make your own schedule ?

I don't know how far out on li you live, but I am taking the lirr but it only takes me 30 min to get into the city. I have classes 2 days a week and clinical/sim two days a week. They made my schedule for me this semester and my clinical and classes are early. They let us pick 4 preferences for clinical sites and times. I got the hospital I wanted, but at 7am.
Hi all--just wondering if I should rent or buy textbooks. I know there are some I may want because they are used in several classes or especially helpful to study for the NCLEX. Can anyone recommend which texts I should purchase versus renting?
Thanks so much and I can't wait to meet everyone also starting on the 27th!

I rented the majority of my textbooks thinking id use some of the others after graduation and they're all sitting in storage, never to be touched again after graduation. The nyu professors/instructors base 98% of exams off of their slides they posted for the class. For nclex studying I didn't go back to any textbooks, I only used the Kaplan book we were provided

I just did it in my physician's office, you can do it in cvs or smth by any nurse practitioner, but I just got blood drawn for every titer and then got form filled by physician.. It took me a week... You can also fax the form to your doctor and ask him send it back to you...
