  1. I have been over 4+ years of RN experience (most of time in the Adult ED). I have always had a passion to work with children and have been trying to change units to pediatrics or labor and delivery for quite some time. I even started working at a pediatric clinic per diem in the past to help gain experience and exposure into the pediatric world. However, it has been very difficult to get my foot in the door, it seems like most places always want a few years (acute, if possible) experience. I can't even get an interview to explain my true passion and eagerness to learn. Currently located in southern California and would like to stay in the are, but open to relocating. Would appreciate any advice/leads/specific hospitals or facilities that are open to training those who are new either in pediatrics or L&D? Thank you.
  2. Hi fellow nurses. I have over 3 years of ER nursing experience in NY, where patient ratios average about 10 and more(!!!). I have been interested in travel nursing for some time, and need some advice on taking the leap into travel nursing. Some of my concerns- finding a good hospital, working with staff when they know you are a "traveler", finding and working with the "right" recruiter, moving to a different area. The process seems overwhelming, and from what I've been reading, it seems that most people say it's worth it and the unknowns seem to be a risk you take when travel nursing. I want to have a positive first experience, in order to set the tone for the future. I am currently interested in California- (Is it the patient ratio real in the California ER's or is it more of a suggested ratio number). Any advice, tips, agency or hospital recommendations would be appreciated :)

    NYP Columbia/ NYC hospitals

Greetings fellow NYC nurses! I currently work in a hospital in the Bronx. I am interested in other facilities, in particular NYP Columbia, Montefiore, Bronx Lebanon, and the Bronx VA. I have not chosen a specific unit, but am interested/open to oncology, pediatrics, and general med surg floors. I would appreciate any input on the hospital culture, benefits, staffing, education reimbursement, particularly awesome units, or anything else worth mentioning. (I am in the NYC area, if a chat over coffee would be preferred?). Thank you!

    Nyu Accelerated BSN spring 2014

    Congratulations newly accepted NYU students!
  6. Hello. If you have won the HRSA Nursing Scholarship in the past, can you share your experiences with finding and now working in an approved facility. I am particularly interested if you could recommend hospitals or health centers in New York State, East coast region, or California. I am starting to think about my future commitment and would like to know if it was easy to find work in a approved facilities and how your experiences are. Also,on the more general side, if recipients can provide ANY information about this program, not just the job aspect it is more than welcome and deeply appreciated. Thank you in advance!

    NYU BSN Fall 2012

Congrats to those admitted NYU Fall 2012 program! Can any past graduates or alumni share some experiences and advice on whether to attend NYU. While I would enjoy the opportunity to go, the expensive tuition is making me think about starting school a few months later at an affordable public school.
