This thread is so informative! Thank you everyone!

I am looking for info anywhere I can get it, so if anyone had any thoughts on these questions I would love any responses!

I'm wondering likely it is I'll be able to get scholarships? And has anyone heard of the hrsa program?

Best places to live for the best price? I'll probably live outside of Manhattan, so I'm alright with a little bit of a commute if necessary

Is it possible to work part time during the program?

Positives/negatives of NYU?

And any input is welcome! I've never been to New York... I'm super nervous about the short amount of time I have to get all this figured out but so excited!!!!

It's definitely in the student handbook, maybe it's too early? If your first day of the semester is a clinical, you do need to wear the uniform. If it's a class day at nyu you can wear whatever you want

Yeah still waiting for my schedule 1 more week... but got one set of nursing uniform while was around but the material is worse than college of dentistry or medicine grr I wonder if they allow no name printed gel scrubs

Thank you!

I was just sent an acceptance this week, so just starting to figure things out!

I've heard the financial aid at nyu is not so good. I've seen quite a few scholarships that can be applied for, but I'm sure they are very competitive. Are most getting loans? The mass amount of debt this degree will cost is pretty daunting. Anyone else have loans from their previous degree also? Yikes. Thanks again!

Most of this information can be found somewhere on this page: Requirements | NYU College of Nursing

yeah pretty much everything can be found online… can't wait to start!

HRSA Repayment plan where they offer help pay your loan.

Alternative loans are often the way to finance what federal aid does not cover rest tuition and housing, supplies, etc. My suggestion saving money on books is do not buy them book unless you possibly have to. One of my comment on FB group page discusses on how to same money on books.

This might help you figure things out if you haven't receive the email on the next steps of enrollment.

Hey everyone!! I just received my acceptance letter from NYU yesterday, to start this upcoming spring 2014. I am super excited! I definitely am worried about tuition but hope that it will be a worthwhile investment in the end. If any of you have gotten accepted I would love to meet you all and chat out these concerns together lol! You can add me on facebook, my email is [email protected].

I've been accepted into the program for Spring 14'. I live in NJ with about 1 2.5 hr commute to NYU, I'm looking into moving to NY but everythings so expensive!!

Hey All!

I got my acceptance letter today!! It turns out they had misfiled my application for a different term and for the non-accelerated program (even though I applied for Spring and accelerated) so they just now looked at it...and I submitted it Oct.1st! The suspense was killing me but I'm happy now, better late than never. I am assuming I will receive an email this week with the next steps I need to take but one of my major concerns is health insurance.

Does anyone know if they provide an option of student health insurance (for an additional fee of course)? I have individual private insurance in California but have already moved to New York. It looks like we have a lot of blood work that needs to be done prior to clinicals and that means I would have to fly back to California to get them done since I am not covered here in NY. Private plans in NYC are outrageous and I wont even start with my attempt to log on for the new health care coverage. Any input or suggestions would be great since I have very little time to get everything lined up with my late admission decision. Thanks and I look forward to meeting everyone that has been accepted in Spring 2014!

Hey, isn't your California insurance covering you all over US? Otherwise you actually automatically added to basic plan as you enrolled to NYU, but if you have private insurance you have a choice to manually waive your NYU plan (which is 1300$ till about August 2014+2200$ for another whole academic year from fall2014).. You do it all online, but if you want school plan you don't have to do anything, just make sure you send them health clearance forms (I'm sure your personal dr can fax your history to you or your NY dr) ASAP and also make sure you accept the offer ASAP to move forward since dec20-jan1st all NYU offices are closed.. Good Luck! Hope it answered your question.

Thanks @realdream! Have you done all of the blood tests and immunizations for clinical? I had a physical when I was living in LA and the basic blood work but that does cover the specifics they are asking for so that is my main concern right now; how and where to get that done in time since they say it needs to be submitted ASAP.
