Nyu Accelerated BSN spring 2014

hello everyone! i just found this forum last night! i cannot wait to hear back from NYU. i applied for the priority deadline for spring 2014. when i talked to an admissions counselor they said we would be notified mid november. im really hoping for next week though! as soon as someone hears from them, you better post it on here!! :nurse: good luck to everyone!

Hello everyone!! The wait is killing me but this forum is so helpful and definitely relieves some of the stress! I've been applying nonstop for over a year!! Didn't get into Stony Brook or Molloy for the Fall semester of 2013 so been applying to anywhere since this summer. Already been denied from several schools since then so I'm really hoping NYU will pull through!

I'm concerned with my gpa. It's just over a 3.0 and my prereqs are about the same but I have a ton of experience and I think my lor and essay was decent! Anyone on the same boat?

Yup, definitely on the same boat as you. I haven't read any of my letter of recommendations so I can't say whether or not they were good. As for grades, I worked my butt off to show a consistent trend but it only changed my overall gpa very little. I hope that they really do see me as a whole applicant and what I have accomplished. If you don't mind me asking, have you applied to NYU before?

Eoduca - No! I haven't applied to NYU before. This is my first time. I also applied to Stony Brook again, but I won't know until the end of January. But really looking to get into NYU!!

You are not the only one. This is my first time applying to NYU as well. Just like everyone else, we are constantly checking our email. Just want the weight to be lifted off my shoulders and get in so I can help support my parents for putting me and 4 of my brothers all through college. Kind of wish there was an interview so we can justify certain things that has occurred since we cannot fit our life story in the personal statement. Seriously, I wish the best of luck to you and everyone. We all have those moments and difficult times. All we can do now is just hope for the best!

Yes! It's so incredibly tough right now. I've talked to current nurses and they can't believe how hard it has become to get into nursing. I'm glad NYU doesn't just look at grades because I don't think that's a prime indicator of a good student. Like I'm a good student. I know my stuff but when it comes to exams, I just freak out and I over analyze things, etc... I've been emailing William Sichel who is the assistant dean to the nursing program regarding my application, so I'm hoping my name sticks in! Lol good luck everyone!!!

hey I'm actually in the same boat as you as far as GPA is concerned. I must admit I am worried, but I just keep telling my self that if its meant to be it will (and vice versa)lol. NYU is actually my first school that I applied to for an ABSN. I will be applying to LIU brooklyn, SUNY Downstate, Lehman and the College of New Rochelle. However, they all have summer start dates with the exception of Lehman. I'm from NY so these programs are relatively close to me. As far as Molloy, I don't have some of the science requirements and Stony Brook I applied in the past and was rejected (during my undergraduate years). All I can hope is that NYU see's my ambition in pursuing this career. I think my personal statement was strong and hopefully explained my low GPA and didn't get to read my LOR. I'm hoping for the best and I can't wait to find out!

OMG my gf lives in Norfolk! Did u already move to VA for this program, or u live there? I wd have to do some arrangements to move for my 2nd choice program in Ashburn VA...

I lived in VA before. Im from NY so I was really looking forward to moving back for school. As for now Im proceeding with the current orogram I've been accepted to. They are moving fast. We had to register for classes and I have to get uniforms by next week. Its alot of pressure, but surely I cant decline the only offer I have on the table right now n
