NYU Accelerated BSN Fall 2010

Nursing Students General Students

Hi everyone!

I just received my acceptance letter to NYU's Accelerated BSN program for Fall 2010. I just wanted to reach out to other accepted students so I thought I'd start a thread! I haven't decided whether or not to accept the offer because of $, relocation, and other things. I have so many questions that I don't know where to start but feel free to share your thoughts!

where did you decide to go?

I'm going to attend the accelerated program at Rutgers.

The tuition for this program is really high, 70k-90k sounds right, that's including the cost of supplies, books, fees, living in nyc. I would love to go to nyu and am now considering applying for January admissions, but do not have the pre-reqs, does anyone have an idea of how long that would take? I think it would it be possible to complete in 2 semesters (summer + fall).

The 90K was an estimate cost of the entire program based on tuition, living expenses (in a dorm), books, etc. And even that, the spending was minimal. I have decided to go to Curry College, not a brand name school, but it is much more established in the Boston Medical community and is 35K less. Good luck to all the accepted students who brave the financial debt!

Hi ANA1,

I just got accepted into NYU's program and am starting in the fall.

It look me three semesters plus a 6 week winter session to get all my prereqs done.

Winter sess - Nutrition

Spring - Chem and Anatomy

Fall - Physio and Psych

Spring - Micro, Stats and Lifespan

You could probably do it faster but I work part-time to support myself right now.

Depends on if you need classes for prereqs. I had to take Psych 1 before I could take Lifespan.

I'm super excited to start! Don't let the money scare you. There is SO MUCH money to be made in nursing and there are so many loan forgiveness programs out there. Do not let yourself engage in a conversation of scarcity. Be talking about and creating abundance in your life!

You only live once and to attend NYU and live in New York City while you're young is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Go for it!

Save up before you go, pay off credit cards, car loans, etc. And then have a blast studying and partying in NYC!

Congrats to everyone who got in!! May I ask when you all submitted your application. I had a problem with one of my recs and my application wasn't technically complete until late March even though I started in way back in October. I haven't heard back yet and this is making me nervous.

well i'm thinking that the people that heard so far as the people who had complete applications by march 1. my application was officially complete in early jan, and i heard from them a few weeks ago and just sent in my deposit.

Yep, I submitted right at the end of February to meet the March 1st deadline.

The April 1st deadline hasn't been told yet about their admissions.

I would guess you would hear in the next month or so.

Good luck!

Hi everyone!!

I just got my acceptance letter in the mail today!! I am new to allnurses.com so sorry if I am repeating questions! I too am from norcal and I just wanted to see if everyone has already found housing yet? Is there any suggestions in regards to the student housing vs off campus housing (and what location)? Also, does anyone know of possible scholarships or financial aid that NYU has to offer? Any advice would be great! :)

Thanks,

SunshineCali Girl

Congrats SunshineCaligirl- just curious. What's your stats in nursing pre-req and when did you submit your completed app? What school did you do your undergrad at in Nor Cal?

Thanks! I'm still waiting for a decision ... Hopefully I will hear by the end of this wk so I can proceed with my options.

Thanks so much!

I'm currently still waiting too! I've submitted my application by the March 1st deadline and still haven't heard back yet. Many of my friends have heard back from them already...I don't know if they had misplaced my file or something. Getting me nervous now...

I'm still waiting as well. They said that my application is still under review, and that I will know by the end of May....
