Hey everyone.. Just wanted to open up a thread in regards to NYU's accelerated program. I recently submitted my application and am waiting at the edge of my seat.
Thanks!
has anyone heard from NYU? i called and asked if my application had been reviewed but the person i spoke to said she couldn't say. she could only say that my application is complete. Does anyone know if thats bad/good/normal? Im not a strong applicant (have a C in chem and undergrad gpa of 3.38) so im anxious to hear something. Has anyone heard different orhave any info to share? thanks
I haven't heard anything yet but I would be shocked if they had sent out acceptance letters yet since their final application deadline is November 1.
I have received a letter in the mail stating that they have received my application and will be reviewing it...and I have later received a financial aid booklet...but that is all so far..
my prevous college experience wasn't great either...so I have been trying not to think too much about it...
Hi everyone..
i too am anxiously waiting but tryign to keep the faith and a positive attitude. I also received the financial booklet and an email with a pre req form where i had to fill out where I took my classes and what my grades were. I have to call tomm to make sure my app is complete b/c they said they didnt receive one of my transcripts. I had it sent out twice so I hope that a copy was sent to them. Also, I still have 3 classes in progress. Does anyone have any info about mid semester progress reports? The application did not mention anything of this, but I wonder how they will evaluate my app while 3 classes are still in progress, but wil be completed before the start of the program.
When I called they said decisions should be known by dec 15 latest.
It is so frustrating...trying not to think about it..
Also-thinking about Financial Aid and the debt that will be incurred if I were accepted...
I was already denied the TAP Grant (almost immediately!) They said I made too much $$ (last year) to be considered
I am guessing because I was working all last year and my tax info showed that, but still I haven't worked since June-you would think they would take THIS year (not last year) into consideration..
Oh well..
Good luck to everyone!
I just called NYU and they will prob want progress reports, but they will ask for them. Which makes me nervous b/c i have a B in there. Micro is a killer! Its hard b/c you dont know if that will be the difference or not. Im also concerend about the $ too.. especially after I got that booklet! Who knows if I iwll get any since I wored all of 2008 and received a severance package during 2009.
Yea that booklet was an eyeopener!
I would not only have to get financial aid I would also have to get private loans to pay for my living expenses throughout the entire term...
Does anyone know regarding a private loan if you have to apply for that like financial aid(by the Nov. 1 deadline regardless of whether or not you know you will be accepted) or if you apply for it after you have been accepted?
I was confused and I didn't apply for one...(I didn't know where to begin, I thought that you get private loans through the school's Financial Aid office)
Now I am concerned that I might have missed a deadline
WOW !! thats awesome news :) you must be soo excited
? for you.. Did you have any pre reqs still in progress and if you dont mind me asking what were your grades like? Just trying to get a good picture of what an accepted candidate looks like. Also when did you have your appl in by? Again congrats !!
Thanks! I submitted my app on July 31st, the only pre-req I have is Statistics. I plan on taking the rest during my first semester. I don't remember my Stat grade, but it definitely wasn't an A or even a B+.
I graduated Cum Laude with a cumulative GPA of 3.4, I work as a Unit Clerk at a hospital but other than that I have virtually NO prior medical experience. I submitted two references, my essay, my resume, and my regular app. That's about it really. My acceptance letter is dated October 29, 2009.
I hope this helps!

October 1 was the prority deadline-for those out of state or who want their decisions sooner so that they can make arrangements to relocate to NY, etc.....November 1 is the final deadline....
That is my understanding for all transfer or accelerated students, however I could be wrong, I applied as a transfer student..
