I was recently admitted into the NYU Second Bachelor's in Nursing Program, but since I have not finished all the pre-requisites thus applied as a non-accelerated student, I won't start the curriculum until Spring 2019, so I've decided to start a thread for that cohort.
I also made an (early) Facebook group: Log into Facebook | Facebook
Yeah I am a little confused as well. My friend who was accepted into the program for Fall 2018 said that he uploaded his LoR's himself and sent them via email along with his personal statement. I was browsing through common app and saw that the personal statement area has a 400 word limit but on the NYU page after you click apply states "Personal Statement (250words-500words). I dont know what to follow at this point, one page says one thing and another page says different.
The application will not let you type in more than 2000 characters (which is about 400 words depending on how long your words are). As for the LoR, in the application you put in your recommender's info and they are emailed instructions on how to upload their letter (and you are asked to waive your right to read the letter, which is standard practice).
The instructions on the NYU website itself are probably outdated so I would just focus on following the instructions within the Common App =)

I totally hear ya. I'll call soon to confirm for you guys though. I feel like it's unfortunate for those who have already written their personal statements prior to August 1st to be submitted asap but they now have to condense an already finished product. If they're going to change the platform they should at least keep the structure the same . 100 words is a lot to take out LOL

Hey Ya'll - you are all correct in re: to this issue. I called last week to clarify and learned:
- Yes, the personal statement is 2000 characters. The information does indeed contradict what is on the website.
- For transcripts, you ONLY submit them to NYU; do not send to Common App. This will not affect your application.
- For recommendations, send to NYU.
That's what they told me on the call. Hope that helps.

Hello! I called the office about this personal essay too. Who I spoke to said common app does have 400 limit, but if you have more, it will not cut it off. 500 is still okay she said, but no more than that. Hope this helps!
I found that it did cut. It deleted what I wrote to suit the character limit.
