NYU ABSN Spring 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I was recently admitted into the NYU Second Bachelor's in Nursing Program, but since I have not finished all the pre-requisites thus applied as a non-accelerated student, I won't start the curriculum until Spring 2019, so I've decided to start a thread for that cohort.

I also made an (early) Facebook group: Log into Facebook | Facebook

Congratulations to everyone who was accepted this round! I applied for fall admission and was rejected but submitted my spring application on 10/15 and was accepted today! I had a acceptance at another accelerated program for Summer of 19', with the condition that I take pathophysiology, and naturally preferred to begin in January. NYU was my #1 choice and I'm so excited to receive a nursing education from such an incredible institution.

Currently shadowing a nurse at a hospital and shadowed at another last summer. Volunteered to take care of the sick in Lourdes, France. Lots of volunteering at a nursing home and performing administrative tasks at a hospital. Completed a Quality Improvement project while working as a data analyst in the clinical informatics department of a hospital measuring and improving inpatient metrics. Good luck to everyone left in the upcoming rounds!

The program at NYIT begins in January. I believe deadline has passed to apply but I'm not totally sure. It's not technically an accelerated program but you can apply to start in the "pre-professional" phase (which is what I did) and it shortens the program to 2 years.

Congrats! I'm still waiting to hear from Binghamton as well, but I don't have a good feeling about it. It's crazy how expensive these schools are and then add rent and living expenses on top of it!

Congrats to all that got accepted and intend to matriculate :-)

To those who were not accepted - I am sorry to hear the news, but also happy to hear that many have back ups in place, or, alternatively, schools that they would have preferred to go to. I wish you best in your nursing endeavors!

To those waiting - ahhh, I'm sorry you're still waiting!!!!!! Soon!

I hope they release financial aid information soon! I'm worried about how I'm going to afford everything...

They send the financial aid information a few days after you receive the acceptance! Once you log in to Albert it shows what scholarships/loans you're eligible for :)

Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone who applied to the non-accelerated program has heard back?

Those of you who have said they were not accepted, did you get a status update that you were not admitted or have you just not heard back yet?

Hey guys I am interested in applying to the NYU program for fall 2019, would anyone with experience with the program mind telling my grades look and if its possible i have a chance for acceptance:

Hey there and welcome - its hard for us to estimate or give advice as there is no such thing as a perfect candidate, and you also have only provided us with your pre-reqs.

Your pre-reqs look good! I think that's at least a positive and will certainly serve you; however, without knowing our background, undergrad GPA, and experience, we can hardly assess much. Your stats are way more than just your pre-requisites, so trying to guide you with programming is also difficult. Do you have a region of the country in mind? What are your nursing aspirations? Some programs are stronger in some areas than others, some offer clinical in specific hospitals that may appeal to you, etc.,

In re: to NYU, your pre-reqs look fine; Cs are always tougher, but you have a lot of As in there. If you have a solid undergrad GPA, a good entry letter and a good recommendation, I would say you have a good shot. But again, there is no such thing as a guaranteed candidate. Good luck!
