I am looking into applying for the NYU ABSN Fall 2016 program. I was wondering if anyone had any helpful tips and thoughts on what I should know when applying for the program.
@Krystalw , I wouldn't recommend dorming NY, is super expensive , I lived here my whole life , I would definitely recommend room mating , or possibly finding something in the Bronx or even queens . Brooklyn and Manhattan are super expensive . I lived here my whole , life and if I got in I wouldn't dorm, since the cost is already bananas and then living costs .
@crazian17 I couldn't stop shaking even after reading the email. I still can't believe is real. LOL
I already paid my deposit. Can't wait to start the new chapter in NYU. For those who are going, can't wait to meet you guys! Should we start a Facebook group or something? I am just too excited. LOL
For Future applicants and people that wanted to hear stats:
I have a gpa of 3.83. My degree will be in Health Sciences/ PA tract. All my pre reqs are in. All of my pre reqs are A- to A. With the exception of chemistry B+ (both Chem 1 and 2). I wanted to get into PA school but that didn't go well. I got interviews and wait list but nothing yet. I have shadowing experience, been working as a CNA for 2 and half yrs.i worked at st barnabas hospital, Bronx Lebanon, Calvary Hospital, Bellevue ( I did companionship ) and volunteered in the emergency room. I unintentionally worked at these different hospitals I was just looking for better pay. I sent 2 LORs ( 1 from a PA i worked with , and my chemistry prof because i know my grade was not that high in that area)
I worked on my essay a lot because it was initially for PA school. I used the same essay for PA.. Basically switched PA and put nurse lol.
I applied and got accepted to college of new Rochelle accelerated its 18 months. Columbia masters in nursing I got wait listed... And NYU I got in.
But I know that NY looks at people essay holistically. So if you have a weakness one area. Try to make other areas that you have control over stronger like essays, pt care hrs, and find one of the best to write your recommendation.. Not just a lazy prof that writes 2 sentences and says contact me for any questions.

I think experience counts more than G.P.A for some reason, which is great since their admission criteria is more holistic. I feel like My stats are not that good since, I was not accepted with the first batch. I have volunteer experience at the PICU at a very good hospital. I have been working for another hospital as a clerk, for almost 2 years. I have a G.P.A of 3.5 and my science G.P.A is 3.9. I feel like my admission essay was not that strong. I really hope I get in, and it would be a dream come true. I guess I should have done more internships. I really hope I get in, so basically the Thursday, Tuesday theory holds true. Maybe the next batch come out, next Tuesday, or next Thursday. Congratulations to all of you.
