NYU ABSN Fall 2013 Entry

Hello everyone! I have submitted my application and my transcripts to NYU for the ABSN program beginning in fall 2013! I am very excited but surprised that we will be hearing so late about an admission decision. Is anyone else applying?

I haven't heard back either. I'm still waiting on NYU, Pace, and Mt St mary's in Los Angeles. This is pretty frustrating.

It seems recently NYU has been sending out rejections versus acceptances? Does anyone think that they have sent out all their acceptances already and are just now sending the remaining rejections? Im not trying to sound pessimistic, but just a thought. Any one have a clue about this topic?

I had noticed the same thing about the lack of acceptances this week. I honestly think they are still working through the pile and those of us who haven't heard were put in one of the "tbd" piles. My TOTAL GUESS is that they have some sort of ranking system where they easily pick off the yes and no candidates and then there are tiers in between. They then have projections as to how many will accept the offer and if the projection trajectory starts to change then they start to either take more or take less. So maybe they are currently taking less. Also, if it is true that they had over 1,000 applicants for 160 spots (160 # came from Open House) then they have to be rejecting at least 3 our of 4 applicants this cycle. My guess is they offer between 200 and 250 spots total to cover rejections or those who can't pull the money together. CLEARLY I HAVE SPENT WAY TO MUCH TIME THINKING ABOUT THIS and could be totally wrong. My friend basically told me today to just "let it go". I am trying to but alas I find myself back on this board:(

I was rejected also. I am shocked. I had amazing grades, an amazing personal statement. Also My recommendation letters were well written. One was from a departmental head and one was from my schools Provost. I have 3-4 years of experience in a hospital and I even had a one year internship in an emergency room. I called and asked, and I even told the lady on the phone my stats and she was shocked as well and was very empathetic towards me. This is really a huge disappointment.

I think you should contact the Nursing department directly... and try to appeal the decision, or at least request to be reconsider for a wait list position. It doesn't hurt to reiterate that this is a career goal and what you are bringing to the table is something NYU would need and appreciate. I don't know whether it would be successful, but it definitely will show them that they are missing an opportunity to have you. But keep your head up

Also keep in mind, NYU is looking to fill a demographic. So if this type of group is full, they will have to shift their decisions to make it more diverse. Otherwise, I would request to have a conversation to review your application and see where there would be room for improvement... if there is any.

I got my rejected email at 8:59, After I finished my last final. This is hard.

I am Middle Eastern, a minority group, which I made sure to mention in my essay. I called, and I'm going to call again. If I believed I deserved the rejection, I wouldn't be this upset. I'm fluent in Arabic, AND American Sign Language. I Doubled majored in Health & Nutrition (B.S), and Psychology (B.S). I'm graduating with 170 Credits. And My GPA is good. I'm just upset. Maybe I'm saying all of this out of anger but this is so weird to me. I grew up believing, "If you work hard, you shall succeed". :scrying:

Sorry to hear that Helwa. Just because you didn't get in this time around doesn't mean you wont get in elsewhere or can re apply. You sound like you have amazing credentials and a bright future.

I still haven't heard back from NYU.. there has been an awful lot of rejections recently so its kind of scary as well.

Did you get an email yesterday or today? I thought they only send emails on tues and Thursdays..confused alittle.
