NYC new RN grads $65k

Published

I have been researching and spoke to a RN recruiter at NYU Medical Center. New graduates are hired (non-unionized) at $65,855 to start, with shift differential, and future experience, education differentials. They generally only hire RNs with a BSN and if you have an AAS you MAY be considered based on your years of exp. The salary difference in $1600 between the two degrees....If anyone else has any similar info on other NYC area hospitals please share!

That is standard for the NYC area.

thanks a lot graceland. I will be applying to NYU in a couple of months since I will be graduating in May. Is the difference of 1,600 between a BSN and AAS a month or a year?

I am not certain on that, but I think a year.

Specializes in ICU, Cardiac Cath/EPS Labs.

Check out this link: Name the hospital and its Starting Salary!!!

It's a year... Not a big difference in AAS and BSN for staff nurse here in NY...

Does anyone know the starting salary for RN with AAS and how hard is it to get a job with the AAS as oposed to the BSN?

It's the same... It's not harder to get a job with an AAS... And starting salary is around $65K with an AAS... it's about $1500 more with a BSN - The difference is when you want to get a job in a higher position - like managerial or administrative position. Then you need the BSN. :)

THANKS for info!!!!!!

I also heard that it easy to get hired in private hospitals in nyc with ur bsn
