  1. Dear PurpleHeart, I just finished the Kaplan course and everyday I practice practice practice (no ATT yet). I was wondering if you would let us know how you did after the NCLEX, and how you found the questions compared to Kaplan. I keep hearing that the new Kaplan questions are harder than the real NCLEX !! I find the saunders questions much easier, so I just want to know how it goes for you with the Kaplan approach. Thanks and good luck!!!
  2. Can someone tell me the best place to get nursing shoes in NYC, any good deals anywhere?
  3. How hard is it to attend NYU nursing school and also hold a part-time job????
  4. Hi all-- I am currently taking pre-reqs for nursing and have been accepted to NYU. I am also a 1199 union member and was wondering if any one out there has had their tuition paid by 1199 while attending a private school, do they pay the private school rate????
  5. Do you have any peers who also go full-time and hold part-time jobs??? I know its probably impossible, but just trying to research a little! Thanks!
  6. Oh wow, i can't believe they don't offer deferment!!! well, i might have to just jump in and do it now, i really don't want to have to go thru another application, etc....ugh. I will be paying more to take the pre-reqs, but it will be faster than finishing them at cuny. Are you going full or part time? thanks for help!
  7. That would be such a load off if i could actually take A&P and Microbio at the same time, I am taking courses at Hunter now, and it really is taking a long time....how far are you into the program? If I can't get a loan I am hoping they will let me defer my enrollment til spring so that I can figure out a plan!
  8. Thanks for your post---i just got accepted to NYU's nursing and I had a couple of questions about pre-reqs....NYU only requires 3 credits of A&P correct? Do you know if A&P can be taken at the same time as microbiology? And are there any nursing courses you can take will completing the pre-reqs? I am a second degree student. thanks!
  9. Thanks for responding, i did look at the classes, what confused me is that for the BSN it lists A&P 3 hours, BUT if you do the 15 month accelerated, you must have two semesters of A&P.......seems strange to me!
  10. Can anyone confirm for me that the A&P science course in NYU's BSN program is only 3 hours and 1 semester? All other schools require two semesters, so I just want to make sure i got it right!
  11. Thanks to everyone for your advise and feedback---please keep it coiming! I am already doing what you suggested so thats a positive. But no matter how much tutoring and practice i get, the chemistry problems kill me---moles, percent yields, grams to atoms....KILLER!! I am in a class with over 500 people, the teacher rarely explains how to work the problems and everyone does poorly as a result. Next semester I am transfering to a private school, hopefully where teachers teach. Keep the advise coming and thanks for the support!!!!!!!!!!
  12. I applyied to NYU and PACE but I am taking pre-reqs at HUNTER COLLEGE. I am finding Chem 100 (intro) and 101 (lab) to be very difficult and i am lost most of the time! Despite tutoring and non stop studying i have a C, but honestly i don't grasp the stuff. How much of chemistry is a part of nursing? maybe i am not cut out for this, if any nurses, nurse educators, or students can give feedback please do!
  13. I just started taking pre-reqs and CHEMISRTY 100 (intro) and CHEM 101 (lab) are absolutely killing me! I am finding it so hard to grasp and just wonder if any other students or nurses can relate? how much chemisrty will i be using as a nurse and what if this stuff never makes sense to me!!!!!
  14. This is a big help. Thanks! oh--where did you complete your pre-reqs?
  15. Thanks for responding! Do you feel it was worth the $$$? I am about to start the pre-reqs at Hunter, but I have already had a horrible experience there and the first class hasn't even started!!!!! I am thinking about applying to Pace for Fall 2008--even if I don't have all the pre-reqs finished, it seems to be the only school that will let you take nursing courses while doing the pre-reqs. Are you going full time? Do you work while attending? And in what way do you find the professors to be jerks? And does Pace help you with job placement? Any info you can give me is greatly appreciated! Congrats on your graduation!
