NYC Masters Nursing Programs

Published

I am currently an ADN student entering my final semester in the fall. I entered my program with a 3.5 but since my GPA has dropped- I believe it is now a 3.0. I failed my first clinical course and then repeated it and in my second semester I dropped both clinical courses that I was taking. I was going through tremendous family issues during the year and it affected my studies. Also, I have not managed to get over a C+ in any of these courses! I am hoping I can make at least Bs in my final 2 clinical courses and perhaps when moving on to a BSN program, making mostly As. At this rate, would I have any chance of getting into a nurse practitioner or nurse anesthesia program later on or are my chances blown?

You'll have a very tough time gaining admission to a competitive graduate program with a cumulative GPA

My advice? Take it a step at a time. Focus on getting your career started before trying to leap into a graduate program. After all, you don't really know how you're going to feel about clinical nursing until you are actually doing it for a while. You may end up deciding to move on to a non-clinical role.

Best of luck to you. Keep us posted on your progress.
