NYC CNA's

Nursing Students CNA/MA

It was expressed in another thread that there should be forums made for CNA's based on location. Well, here is a thread for New York City CNA's, and future CNA's from NY to post their concerns, questions, and to network.

I guess we can get this started by using introductions:

I'm from Queens, NY and I'm almost done with my CNA classes. I plan on continuing to Nursing school in the Fall of 2010 to pursue my LPN degree. Later on I will do the LPN-->RN-->BSN-->MSN.

Look forward to getting to know local medical professionals in the NYC area :redbeathe:redbeathe

Depends on how far upstate you live, without giving too much info, where are you located? Albany? Putnum county? Let us know, and we can see if we have any answers.

Thank you, I live in Dutchess County but would be willing to go to Albany or to NYC and its boroughs.

heres alil info for my fellow cnas who are looking for a cna course that is free, if you live in the in the city there is a place called highbridge community center in the bronx in ogden ave. and if u meet certain requirments the course is free !!!

and they also offer ekg & phlebotomy class for free once u have completed the course, btw the course is 5 months long. a tad long but hey its free. and i know of an agency that is not to bad its called floral agency in the bronx the # is 718-708-7444. out of all the agencies they paid me the best which was about 11.50$ a hour which is way better then 8 or 9$. im just giving alil info because i like to help in anyway. i worked hard for a year threw agencies busting my behind at the age of 19 and now at 22 i have a decent paying job in harlem, ny. i been here for 2 yrs as a cna making 18.28$ a hour on the evening shift working with diasabled children and the ratio for cna to pateints is 1:4. its way better then having 10,12,13 patients. im good with only 4 kids who are completely diasabled :redbeathe. theres also elederly floors. i just actually relaized im not that far from a lpn slaray in some places, but im still going for my lpn. if anyone lives in city and might need a lil help with some resources dont be afraid to message me. im willing to help in any way i can :hug:dont give up !! sometimes things seem impossible but with persistence you will have success
