NWFSC Nursing Fall 2019

Published

Hi! I just finished retaking the HESI and am curious to see who else applied for Fall 2019. I know it's early, but I'm already ready to find out either way. My HESI score is 89 and I should have 17 bonus points, so 106 points total.

Any other applicants out there? ?

96 is awesome!! I got a 76 the first time and a 92 the second!

Thank you!! That’s awesome too! ?

Yes the A&P section was definitely the hardest! I had some weird questions too! I spent 2 months doing over 300 practice questions for A&P, and my HESI had 1 question I had seen before lol.. also I went on registration earlier and there's one microbiology class for summer and it's full, plus 13 people on the waitlist. I went ahead and signed up for nutrition online for the summer and I'm keeping an eye on micro for fall. So far there's still several spots open and it doesn't look like it would interfere with the first two nursing courses but I'm not sure.

Oh boy! I used pocket prep and that was amazing for the AP section! So micro is totally full? I know there is only one professor that teaches it at Northwest (last time I checked anyway) so that makes sense. I took nutrition online last summer and the professor I had was awesome! Easy A class and pretty much the hardest part (not so much hard, but time consuming) was a nutrition analysis project we had to do. If possible I think I am going to shoot for micro in the fall as well. I thought about taking it this semester but I’m already taking a fast track algebra and AP2, so adding that to my plate may kill me lol! ?

Ah! Yeah, I used pocket prep for the second time around and it helped a ton! I guess I’ll take microbiology in the fall or spring. I took nutrition online last fall and yes that analysis project was crazy!

Right?! I thought it was going to be simple little project, but once you got into the whole thing it was waaaaay more than I had anticipated lol. And my diet was awful the week I recorded it so I was all trying to make my papa johns and pot pies fit into the healthy categories haha! Pocket prep is the best. I paid for the full version which was like $20 or $25, but so worth every penny.

Haha yes! Mine ended up being like 20 pages long. Crazy! And same. At the end where we said what we could do to better our eating habits, I casually mentioned not eating as many carbs lol! And yes, it was definitely worth buying the full version of the app. AH I’m hoping tomorrow will be the day we finally hear from them. ??

Yes I bought the full version of pocket prep too and it was awesome but I still got some ridiculous questions on the A&P section of the HESI.. like why does the stomach not eat itself ? I'm in A&P 2 right now also, I've got Dr. Wilderman on Monday and Wednesday at 10am, I'd crack up if we're in the same class lol

I tried to make sure that I included the vegetables from my papa johns but I think I was really reaching at that point lol. I ended it talking about how I could probably have more complex carbs, etc. lol! I seriously hope we get some news this week! Every Monday I’m like “maybe this week is the week!” Haha

Oh boy! We actually covered that in my AP class! It’s because of a mucus lining that coats the stomach, don’t remember what it’s called. I have it in my notes somewhere lol! I had a couple crazy questions and I tried weeding out the ones I knew didn’t fit. One was about fetal bone marrow, don’t even remember the question now, but it was crazy and I had no clue haha! That would be so funny if we were in the same class! I’m actually in Dr. McArthurs Wednesday night class. I had him for AP1 too but twice a week and definitely preferred that to the once a week, but it’s ok. Semester is almost over! Thank goodness!

Yes! Well it is April 8th, so I'm guessing we will hear at least some sort of update any day now... hopefully. I've been trying to not call the nursing department and ask, but it's not easy not knowing where we stand in the whole process.

And Dr. McArthur is the best!! I had him for A&P II. Quite a few of the things I learned in his class showed up on the HESI so it was super helpful too. I did the once a week class on Wednesday's too and I genuinely enjoyed it because he made it so interesting.

I've had the same professor for 1&2 and it is so boring. We literally just look at a PowerPoint for every chapter and it comes straight from the book. It's so hard to learn when it's that boring. The only time we did a hands on activity was the bones and landmarks test last semester, and it's the only 100 I've ever made in A&P. I'm so ready to be done with this semester.
