NWFSC Nursing Fall 2019

Published

Hi! I just finished retaking the HESI and am curious to see who else applied for Fall 2019. I know it's early, but I'm already ready to find out either way. My HESI score is 89 and I should have 17 bonus points, so 106 points total.

Any other applicants out there? ?

Thanks for the info! Only a couple more weeks! Hey have any of ylu taken statistics? I haven't taken college algebra yet and I'm not ready to right now so I was thinking of registering for statistics but if you've taken it, was it difficult? Otherwise ill have to taken intermediate algebra during the summer to make sure i am up to par with college algebra...hrmmm!

I have taken both statistics and algebra, and statistics was SO much more difficult, at least in my opinion. But I did take the class online, and I took algebra in an actual classroom. If you take statistics, I'd recommend not taking it online because it can get confusing. ?

Thank you. Thats what im afraid of. I better play it safe and do my intermediate algebra. I had to take the pert so many times to pass lol i kept getting 117, 119 and finally scored 129 after studying for a couple weeks. Its been so long since I was in an algebra class so i dont want to take college algebra yet unless i'm confident ill pass. ? i hear mixed feelings about stats so that kind of makes me afraid i won't pass. Thanks again!

Yeah, some people I know think statistics is easy, but that was definitely not the case for me, lol. Algebra is not completely easy either, but it is much more manageable. You've got this!

Yeah seriously I hear that too! I'm not amazing at math so ill just play it safe. I have college algebra and microbiology left to take during the program if i make it in. ? darn lol and thank youuu!

I’m currently taking a fast track Algebra class and it’s not bad at all. Taking Stats in the fall so I couldn’t say just yet which one is easier...from what I’ve heard Stats isn’t more difficult necessarily...it’s just different.

Thanks for your response! That's the hard part is I am not sure if I would be overwhelmed in stats or not so I decided to just do intermediate algebra so I have some practice for either college algebra or stats in the fall. I should have tried to do the fast track like youre doing also. I didnt even think about that.

I think we will get our scores this week, hopefully! I'm so nervous because I think I have fewer points than I originally thought. My husband thinks I'm crazy because I keep talking about it. Lol

I hope we get our point verifications this week! I’ve talked about it pretty much every day with my fiancé too, lol! He’s already a firefighter/paramedic so he’s super hopeful that I’ll get accepted. ?

Hopefully you have as many points as possible! I only took 2 classes at NWFSC so I only will have 2 points in that section but I should have 106, I think. We’ll see...

Don’t feel bad guys....my poor husband and kids have heard me stressing about this for weeks now ?. It’s hard not to though! I was racking up all the points I could, I even dig up my 214 from the Air Force since that was 5 pts haha. I should have 116 but it’s hard to feel confident not knowing how everyone else did, and there are only 36 spots. Who knows. I hope we all get in though and that I can meet you ladies soon! Oh, for math...take Professor Cast for intermediate algebra, algebra and stats. He is the best professor hands down and even if you aren’t the best in those subjects, you will pass with flying colors with him.

LOL! Yeah, I am currently in a medical assistant class for the summer, but I won’t get the certificate until late July so I don’t think it’ll count towards my points. I’m going to ask though. But it will help for nursing school if I get accepted! I hope to be able to meet you both this fall, too. ☺️ It is nerve wracking to know there are only so many spots but i’m staying optimistic!!

Haha its hard not knowing what our points are this whole time.

Also, thats what i dont understand about the point system. Do all classes taken at nwfsc count towards the point system? Ive taken english, A&P 1, 2, nutrition and then applied. I just dont know if they all count? Working on the rest right now and for summer.

Also I believe you have to have everything in by the deadline of March 1st in order for it to count towards your score. I have an LVN license but I need to renew it in July. ? and im not working ugh

thanks for the professors name for math! Ill keep that in mind!

All the pre-requisite classes and I believe any of the co-requisite classes count, too. I took A&P II and nutrition in fall 2018, so I'm thinking that will give me the 2 points. At least that's what the academic advisor made it seem like last year when I had an initial appointment.

Yeah, if only I thought about the medical assistant class before the March 1st deadline, but at least I'll have those skills, like phlebotomy and the basics!

Dang, so are you applying for the LPN to RN track, or do you have to be working to do that? I don't know how that works, lol.
