Hi,
I just need some insight from all of you...I am planning to apply for nursing at NVCC for fall 2016. I have finished all my prerequisites and general requirement with the gpa of 3.7 but my teas score is on the lower side. I still have two chances to take it again but the student services have told me that since I passed I can't take it again. Is it true? If I were to take it again, will the nursing team take my highest score for consideration? Any help will be appreciated! 😊
How were we supposed to get the return receipt? I mean i did send my application certified mail, and I tracked it to ensure it was delivered but didn't receive any return receipt?
It depends if whether or not you actually paid to get a return receipt, because sending it as Certified Mail does not automatically mean you get a return receipt. It is a separate, small, green slip that would have been placed on your packaged envelope to then be signed by someone when it has reached the final destination (in this case, someone from the student services office would have signed it). If you didn't do that, it is okay because you have tracked it to see if it was delivered anyway!
I totally agree!! I thought, I had sent my application via certified mail but I did not get anything in return...I tracked it online and it seems like it had delivered. Also, I called the MEC student services today and they said "if you haven't received any email, that is good thing bc we will be emailing only if you are missing something"...looks like, we are getting differant answers but hey, at least we are getting answers! í ½í¸‰ Also, somebody mentioned about MEC blog...I don't know, if you paid closed attention to the date it was posted...it had said, may 28, 2014, so it was a old blog and old comments!! I really hope that we hear something soon because this waiting period is killing me and I am not a patient person to begin with! í ½í¸” I hope, we all get in...good luck!!
So I just noticed that the MEC Facebook page posted another update a few minutes ago. I copied and pasted the post below in the case that some do not access to it through FB.
The exact message states:
"Student Services began processing Nursing Traditional and Nursing LPN to RN applications the week of May 16th. Our office will begin notifying students this Friday as to the status of their applications. Due to the large volume of applications we will be unable to confirm receipt of individual applications."
...Seems to me that not all of us will be receiving an email regarding our application? Which is kind of weird, as I know in previous years they've always sent out emails regarding the status of applications & if whether or not it was turned over to the Nursing Department for final decision.
Okay that's good to know then. I don't remember paying extra for a return receipt so that's why I didn't get anything. You would think that ONE of us on here would of gotten an email from them by now regarding our applications. Since they sent some emails out last week lol. Oh well. I really need to stop looking at my email every time my phone makes a ding sound. I look like 100 times a day
They posted another update on the MEC Facebook page stating that the first set of notifications will be received by 5:30 pm tomorrow. Let's hope at least a majority of us, if not all of us, receive an email tomorrow to ease our minds!! They have also reiterated that they are more than halfway done with both Nursing Traditional and Nursing LPN-RN applications.
So someone asked in the MEC Facebook, How will the applications be reviewed? And the MEC wrote back saying "In general those who submitted closer to the start of the application window will be notified first. However applications are not strictly processed in order received." I guess the people who submitted first will be looked and have the notifications first.

I also sent mine as Certified Mail and got my return receipt in the mail with a signature from a staff member in the student services office that confirmed it was received, but as someone mentioned above, it still wouldn't make sense for those that sent their application through certified mail to not receive the email regarding their application status due to the email that we will be getting will include if whether or not your application is being forwarded to the Nursing Department for acceptance decisions, or if your application was incomplete with missing items. Therefore, I am hoping whoever sent it through Certified Mail will still be receiving an email in the next two weeks.
