I am starting a new thread to track cases from NVC - embassy to GC.
The best news for RN in China, Phillippines and India has been great and informative thread, but I think it is more appropriate and convenient if we start a new thread.
Also with the rapid scheduling of interviews for most of us, I am looking beyond the CP and anticipating the GC!
The August interview schedules are out already in India, and recently in the Philippines and hopefully in China.
Here is my case details

Packet 3 sent back to NVC : May 3, 2005
NVC case completed : May 16, 2005

well, in my case not yet. we are still filling out our ds-230 (part 1). perhaps, by the 2nd week of this month, we can send these documents to our attorney of record. btw, this ds-230 sent to us by nvc, are we going to just sign it? or just use other photocopy of ds-230 as draft? and let our lawyer fill it out in our behalf? thanks!
I have a question regarding the ds230.
It says here, a separate sheet is needed if there is insufficient room for your answers. I need an extra sheet for questions #22 and 23 on page 2 of the ds230.
Do I print an exact copy of page 2 and answer only the relevant questions (q22 and 23) and leave the other areas blank? I would be having 2 copies of page 2, in this case.
Or do I type on a plain bond paper the additional answers for questions 22 and 23, specifying their respective numbers of course?
Which one is acceptable? Help please. Thanks in advance.

hi esterp,
when i filled out my ds230,i just downloaded it from the website. i had two copies i filled out the information needed in part 1 and the other copy just my signature. my lawyer did the rest. ds230 forms can be signed using their website since it is an electronic form, print it and then just sign, the lawyer will accomplished part 2.
it's me,

hi Peanut,
I was really puzzled before regarding this DS-230. considering that there were some posts particularly in this thread mentioning that we should only use DS-230 forms from NVC because downloaded ones is not acceptable to them. What is also in my mind that DS-230 form has a barcode. However, when my instructional packet arrived last week, I found out that this DS-230 coming from NVC is just the same DS-230 what was in the internet (in form and in substance, all are the same) It expires on 07/31/2006. That is why, there were some agencies letting their applicants fill out this DS230 despite on the first stage yet on their applications.. We are a little bit delayed on this part because our lawyer failed to remind us to download DS-230 in the internet , fill it out , and send it back to him. By the way, Thanks again Peanut for your concern! bye!

i my case, i filled out one copy using a pencil. Then i submitted it together with another ds230 with just my signature on it (using permanent ink).. It was my lawyer who finalized my ds230.
hi gwapo,
i think this is the area, whre my lawyer failed to inform me beforehand so that everything will come smoothly & surely. so what you mean is that all DS-230 forms (Part 1 & 2) are only my signature has to be affixed thereon?
while the rest is to be filled out by my lawyer? okay, thanks gwapo!

Lucky you. I wish our lawyer suggested this. It could have saved me a lot of stressful hours. Filling out the ds230 is very stressful indeed! :thankya:

hi penpaper,
the instructions at DS-230 (part 1) sethforth, if there is insufficient room on the form, answer on a separate sheet using the same numbers that appear on the form.attache any additional sheets to this form. it is very clear that we have to secure separate sheet, and same numbers is to be used or place in that sheet. so in #22 has to list down institutions attended.so you have now 2 copies of page 2. in #23, your educational institutions attended. by the word "using the same numbers that appears on the form" clearly means that, that number you have emphasized is to be placed in the said separate sheet of paper. To make it sure, you better wait for another advise posted here!
wellborn
