Is it ok for someone to work as a nurse without a license as long as they work directly under a doctor/another nurse?
Thanks............jan

whoa! what charity is that? i thought the state nurse practice acts specify that 'no pin, insignia, cap, etc. can be used to represent an unlicensed person as a licensed nurse'?
In Mexico they dress up as the Red Cross.
I feel for it maaaany times .

I did indeed call BCBS of GA. They could have cared less. Told me I could fill out a complaint, which I did and never heard from anyone about it.They said MD's often train personnel to do procedures under their tutoring.

ok-my friend is an ma who starts med school this fall. she has a bs in sports physology, and is a certified atheletic trainer. she works for a gp who is certified in sports medicine. to my surprise, she said the state of nc allows her supervising DO to train her to do anything he feels comfortable delegating.
she made me mad at a party recently...some friends were congratulating me on passing the nclex, and she and i had been talking about the field. one guy asked if she was a nurse, and she said, 'basically, yeah.' :stone

It's all very state to state, isn't it? I know in Pennsylvania, we can work with a TPP for a very short term. However, then certain hospitals can still say they don't want you to start working without your RN. My friend and I work in the same health system - she has to start after passing NCLEX, and I start as a GN. In Jersey, they don't take GN's at all.
I believe when I was reading through the PA State Board of Nursing site, it had a great deal about using "RN" in any way, shape, or form, but did not specify to the term "nurse." Now that's piqued my curiosity to go back and read it again. It was very specific about using RN, however, and can be highly punishable, depending on how it was used.

There's something fishy about this thread. How does an experienced practicing LPN (the OP) not know a nurse can't practice without a license? Z
