Do I take it you are not practicing in the UK at the moment. If not you need to look in the international forum there is a great deal if information in there for overseas nurses.

If you are already a RN then I think you will find it hard to enrol as a nursing student plus it is very hard to get on nursing courses if not already a EU/UK citizen. Even if you did your training it would be expected that you would return home and work once you have completed it.

Also you would have to meet the job occupation list which you would not meet unless you gain experience in the following as per the Job occupation short-list

ONLY the following jobs in this occupation code:

*Specialist nurse working in operating theatres

*Operating department practitioner

*Specialist nurse working in neonatal intensive care units

When you come over on a student visa it is expected that you return home not stay. Unemployment is still a high issue in the UK so any UK employer has to show that they can not employ a UK or EU citizen before the rest of the world

Even if you can get a place on a nursing course in the UK which is extremely unlikely as an overseas national, it is still very unlikely you'll be able to get a work visa at the end of it. Even though you will have trained in the UK you will still be a foreign national and as such will have to work in a shortage occupation to be eligible for a work visa, as a newly qualified nurse you will not fit into this category.

I just wanted to say hi. I am in my 2nd year of my BSN at the University of the West of Scotland. How are you ladies and gents finding your course?

I have to admit that the drug calculations are not my strong point, we have to sit exams on this every year and we must get 100%, has anyone else had the same experience?

Take care.

Hi everyone,

I am a newbie here :D lol. I am 24 and a third year student due to qualify in august which is pretty scary as no way i feel ready. I live in scotland and have a 5 year old wee boy:D. I have only had 2 ward placements and my confidence is pretty low right now. I go on my 15 week management in may, which i am looking forward too and hopefully feel ready after that lol as ill have no choice x
